Outstanding Juicer at a great price
I'm ready for getting into healthier eating/juicing habits. I'm tired of refined, processed foods, where I eat them primarily to put some bad calories into my body in quick and convenient ways. I've been reluctant to buy a juicer because the last one I had was a cheap, centrifugal unit I admittedly bought twenty years ago. I think I used it once. Happily, however, the technology is here now to provide a streamlined, clean, juicer that I believe will set the bar to a new level. The Ventray Cold Press Juicer is amazing. Like everybody else, I did my fair share of research; I am meticulous that way now. After reading a million or so reviews and watching as many videos, I became pretty jaded, thinking I had basically two choices: either spend a LOT of money on a quality juicer, or stay within an affordable range and get a sub-quality unit I'd be sort of happy with. In watching video reviews, it's gets depressing to see a "best-selling" juicer in my price range sit there and rock and squeak and struggle to get a dribble of juice out. I then found the Ventray, and I kept going back to it time after time. I bought it finally and am really glad I did.I know I'm sounding like a salesman here, but this is really just true enthusiasm. I love this juicer and am 100% happy with it so far. In the past five days, I have used it four times to crank out five or six quarts of juices. I have juiced apples, celery, kale, spinach, ginger, oranges, lemons, pears, carrots, cucumbers, and red cabbage. Everything went in easily and came out perfectly for me. Very little pulp, minimal to moderate foam, and NO "strings" from the greens btw. The wonderful part is you can refrigerate the juice in jars for consumption the next day, and it doesn't degrade at all in taste. Nor does it separate. It also makes juice quickly for it being a slow-juicer. For example, I can make a quart of Joe Cross's lean mean green juice in under five minutes. And I actually used carrot pulp to add to some black-bean burgers I made last night. They were awesome.I was really surprised with how small the footprint of this unit is. It would fit nicely on a countertop, although it is a little tall since it is a vertical machine and may not fit under some cabinets. So far I've left mine out on the kitchen island so I can admire it when not in use; I know...I need to get out more. Really really easy to clean. As I dismantle it, I rinse each piece and toss it in dishwater for a quick wash. It really couldn't be simpler. And for the very best part: the quality of the build. It's heavy. It doesn't vibrate or wobble, or rock when juicing- even hard vegetables like carrots. Each part is made of heavy-duty material, it all fits together perfectly, and feels like it's meant to last a long time. I'm anxious to share the juice with friends, but so far my partner and I have drank it all up (mostly me truth be known). I'm currently fighting off the urge to head to the fridge for more as I write. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to a friend, despite the fact that I've had it for less than a week. And to be entirely fair, I'm going to give it a couple of months and do a follow up review with pics. Thanks for reading this.

Amazing Juicer
This is like the Cadillac of juicers in my opinion. This is the third juicer I've owned. The previous two were centrifugal juicers and each lasted about a year. Once I realized I was serious about juicing, I spent the money on this Ventray model, which is a masticating juicer. I thought the price was reasonable. I think it does an amazing job of separating the juice from the pulp. The pulp comes out really dry. The first picture I was juicing pineapple; the second picture shows carrots. It comes with a strainer that you can set right on top of the container to catch the foam (such as from the pineapple) if you want. So far I have nothing negative to say about it, plus it's quiet! I make juice in large batches so the set up, clean up is not a big deal. If you were going to make one glass of juice it might be too big for what you want. The motor is heavy also. I did follow the recommendations in the manual and gave the juicer about a 30 minute rest between the 16 bags of juice I made (one rest break) I was afraid it might overheat (which the manual cautions you about). That might be a drawback for some, but it was OK for me. I also cut my fruits and veggies into recommended small pieces. I hope I get more than a year out of this juicer. I think this is an excellent product.

Writing this review to help people like me!
When I decided I wanted to buy a juicer, I began researching. There are two types -- centrifugal, and masticating. For nutrient retention, I chose masticating. I wanted to get the most juicer for the least money, so I began my quest to read Amazon reviews. I started with the good, but I also ready the bad and the ugly. I eventually found the Ventray juicer, and the first two reviews sold me on it. So did the 5 yr warranty - which is unheard of at this price point (so I'm saving you some time if you're looking based on warranties). This thing is AMAZEBALLS!!! I put it together the night I got it (took me roughly 3 minutes and part of that was rinsing off the plastic pieces in hot water). There are only 'big' pieces to assemble this juicer, and it goes together VERY easily. You can tell by the way the plastic and the augur feel (heavy, substantial) that this is a high quality juicer. That's when the fun began. I made my first juice! I put cucumbers, mint, spinach, a couple of organic carrots, a tangerine, some turmeric, some fresh ginger, a green apple, celery, and some blackberries. I cut the apple into quarters, cut the cucumber into 2-inch pieces, and I alternated the leafy stuff with the chunky stuff. This juicer is a workhorse. It is slow and steady, and it leaves very little juice behind in the pulp. There's a spout for the juice, and there is a spout for the pulp. Everything is super easy, no splatters or anything. And when it's time to clean up, that part is easy as well! A little hot water and about 3 minutes and you're done! I am super impressed with this thing. I can't recommend it enough --- it is worth every penny and then some. I am extremely, extremely happy with my choice!!

Not up for the task
The motor died today after using it occasionally. I purchased this juicer new less than 2 years ago. Did not use it often because it plugged up and the motor got hot and sounded strained after processing only 16 oz juice. If you're serious about juicing, buy a commercial industrial juicer like you see at juice bars.Best to spend your money on a serious commercial juicer. This one (and other 'home use' juicer models I've owned) are disappointing, always plug up and have a very hard time processing greens, carrots. Celery has to be cut into small pieces or the strings wrap around everything.
