Silly fun, with extremely social game mechanics
I found out about this game because some friends bought it, and after a few rounds, I had to have a copy too. Even for a guy like me who plays a lot of board games, this one is a hidden gem. Some board games (Dominion comes to mind) are a bit like competitive solitaire - the fact that there are other players is almost incidental. This is not one of those games. This game has everyone playing aggressively against each other in a silly, fun way. And it's more fun the more players you have. There's enough strategic depth to be interesting to serious board gamers, but there's enough silliness to appeal to the casual crowd. And because there's a large diplomacy aspect (ie "gang up on the person who's clearly winning") the game always feels closely matched. It's just a well designed game.

Great Learning Game!
Bought this game for my sons 8th birthday. He's got an independent 4H project coming up this summer that will involved learning some programming using Scratch.I figured getting him started with some basic coding logic would really help him. Myself, my 11 yr old daughter and him played this and the 1st time out everyone enjoyed it.Being a software developer, I loved being able to explain the different symbols and concepts on the cards as we went. This game involves For loops, while loops, If/Else statements, and even the idea of using your ship to attack in certain order to maximize the damage your potato smashing attacks do! There are even Switch statement cards that my son was able to use multiple times and then when getting his 4th ship he suddenly realized he couldn't continue to use! So he waited until he lost a ship... and out came that switch statement again! Was a great time, and after our first game everyone was ready to play it again!

Another hit by ThinkFun
My husband is a programmer, so my kids love anything related to programming. This was a Christmas gift and we've already played it multiple times. We focus on saying our plans the way they would read if typed out. My oldest has already been doing some coding solo, but my youngest doesn't have much experience with it. She's catching on very quickly and loves the cute ship names! This game is also great for practicing different math concepts. (Addition, multiplication, and variables, just to name a few!)

great fun with slight adjustments, not really teaching coding
My husband wanted to get the girls (7 and 9) into coding so we bought this game. The introduction explains how the actions in the game are related to basic coding commands. Well, my kids listened to everything in the beginning when we read the instructions aloud. After that they just played and never thought about coding again 😆Pro: The game is great fun for kids and adults. And it definitely teaches strategically thinking.Contra: Be aware that this game is all about attacking and damaging the others. So it might not be the best for kids who are getting into fit when they feel as if they’re loosing. Also, we had to adjusted the rules a bit, mainly to shorten the game for our youngest one. It took us over one hour the first time we played it before we had a winner (and that was already with the shortened version the rules offer). We transformed some of the surprise cards to immediate attack cards so you can attack without having to wait your next turn and your opponents don’t have time to adjust their potatoes on their ship. And we usually end the game when all potato kings are in play. The player with the most kings wins.We all loved the game and if we hadn’t had to adjust it a bit, it would have been 5 stars from our family.

Great fun and a popular Christmas gift!
This was a big hit at Christmas. It was a gift for a 10 year old and a 7-year old. The whole family had fun with it. Perhaps a bit complex for the youngest child, but he still had loads of fun. As others have commented, the rules are not clear, but we sorted that out ourselves. A great way to introduce kids and adults to coding!

Doesn't do a good job of explaining rules
Another thing trying to "gamify" coding. Instructions are poor. Enough so to make my nine year old who does lego coding toss down his cards and walk away. I wouldn't recommend this game.

Great game for families
This game can be as complicated or as simple as your family needs it to be. Our seven year old daughter who "hates" math was quickly immersed in applying mathematical strategies and concepts and totally enjoyed herself. The game can be enjoyed and mastered on any level because it is so flexible; the strategies can become as advanced as the players want them to be so that kids can play as successfully as adults. A target skill-level for children is basic addition with a basic understanding of comparisons (greater than/ less than/ equal to). But adults can enjoy a wild cut-throat pirate adventure as well!

Buen juego!!!
Te enseña solo las bases de los bucles y estructuras de programación (FOR, WHILE, IF-THEN, ELSE y anidación de estos). No es complicado aprender, las instrucciones son sencillas y el juego es entrenido.

Fun learning
I bought 5 of this game to use at school, helping kids to understand coding in a simple and fun way. It took a few lessons to get the kids up to speed, but they got the hang of it pretty quickly. They are understanding conditions and loops better now.

Great learning fun
My 6 yo son enjoyed it although we had to spend a lot of time to explain it to him. “It’s A Great way to expose young kids to coding.
