Pair of Goat Hoof Rattles

Love these and they make a lovely and loud sound. One is pitched slightly higher than the other. Note: they are too small to fit over an adult foot to be foot rattles and too large to simply wear on the wrist. I do have large feet - size 9. I solved that by unpicking the seam and sewing ribbon to the ends. A bit of work but now they are perfect.

This product is listed under "ankle percussion", and as such it is completely disfunctional. There is no opening to allow you to actually put it on your ankles. The fabric is too soft for the heavy rattles and the original sewing job is poor. I had to figure out how to make it work. Had to purchase valcrow first thing. Luckily, I owe a sewing machine, but even with that I spent 2 additional hours sewing by hand to make it somewhat work. All that instead of just happilly handing it to my friend on time as a holiday gift. So if you are inventive, have extra time to spare and can afford to waste money, I highly recommend this product.

When I ordered them I didn't realize they really did mean actual goat hooves...these are great, make plenty of good rattly noise (think clacky, not chingy) and have tags that explain the method by which the goat hooves are made into rattles, which made me appreciate them more. The reason I gave them 4 stars is that they're really small, so I can't put them on my feet or even my wrists (both of which are admittedly pretty big on me). Otherwise, very nice rattle.

These have absolutely fantastic sound. The only bummer is the neon fabric they're sewn on. If these were sewn on something neutral, it would be better. Nonetheless, good price, fun instrument.

I give this five stars with reservations. As others point out, the band onto which the rattles are attached does not open, so it is virtually impossible to put on one's ankle, unless you are a 5 year old. They do fit on your wrist without too much trouble, as long as you are not a large person with thick hands and wrists.That said, these are really great when what you want is some level of authenticity in a wrist rattle before primitive tribes started trading with European trading posts. So, they are perhaps better as a demonstration piece than as a practical rattle for performance.

These were definitely not ankles, could fit them maybe above my elbow. They were also mismatched when they arrived. No purple lining like in the picture. One was black and one was tan.Somehow. This worked out because I gave it to a friend for a gift. However, I was expecting them to be a "pair" matching.. Like the picture.
