Trader Joe's Sipping Chocolate Inspired By European Tradition

Divine!
I am a huge fan of sipping chocolate- this did not disappoint! My father was not a fan - but he doesn’t care for dark chocolate. If you are buying for children - I’d head for more of a milk chocolate as it’s usually an older taste bud that prefers the dark chocolate:)I enjoyed this - making it with more than the directions call for when I wanted a thicker, more of a “sipping,” drink. I really liked drinks at Serendipity in NY - this could be done with this mix quickly if you don’t want to take the time to chop up a good chocolate bar of 72% or 85% with some instant espresso and a dash of vanilla and pinch of salt…

Choose the Sipping Option
Gave this as a gift, and they really enjoyed it. Choose the sipping option over the cocoa, and be sure to use milk-like products, not water.

Excellent Texture & Flavor
Three tablespoons of chocolate powder per 1/2 or 3/4’s cup is indeed a large ratio of chocolate to milk bu the result is a treat. Thick, tasty chocolate that is perfect for dipping any kind of bread product—sweet, toasted, etc.—is perfect anytime during the fall or winter, morning, afternoon or evening. It is a premium product, so the packaging of two items per purchase, as in my case, was perfect and recommended to avoid running out of the chocolate too soon.

Delicious Hot Chocolate
I bought this hot chocolate because it sounded fancy. Not disappointed, the chocolate was rich, delicious and smooth. It tasted especially delicious with mini marshmallows. Would definitely purchase again.

Not regular cocoa. This is deep, rich, dark and wonderful
I had tried Sipping Chocolate when I was in Holland and fell in love with it. When I saw this last year at Trader Joe's I decided to try it. It was a very close approximation to what I had in Holland where the chocolate is melted to make the sipping chocolate. Yes, one drinks, actually sips melted chocolate. Think the consistency and thickness of sipping Hersey's chocolate syrup. Maybe even a bit thicker than syrup. It isn't that sweet but sipping chocolate is rich, thick and intensely chocolate. It is meant to be savored, slowly and relaxed. It almost gives one an excuse to slow down and smell the, well, chocolate. This might be the lazy man's or woman's way to make sipping chocolate but it is excellent. Unlike standard high chocolate or cocoa this is more like drinking espresso than say regular coffee. It takes some time to dissolve and it is best made on the stove top. I tried the microwave method and it just didn't work. So skip the microwave and enjoy the ritual of the slower paced stove top method. I think the Dutch invented this just so one had an excuse to slow down and better enjoy the day.

I just bought this a few months ago for $17.95. I love this but it is outrageous that the price has increased so much.
