From other comments there is some confusion about how many hinges you get for $40. Each hinge package has two complete hinges. We have a heavy steel pool gate. While these hinges work great, the hardware furnished was too light for our application. The design of these hinges make installation simple the extra flanges also strengthen the attachment between post and the gate. They are easy to adjust and require little maintenance. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, reasonably priced self closer.

I like that you can adjust tension easy.

This hinge replaced a D&D hinge (with a supposedly lifetime guarantee) that broke. The old hinge was held on with hex head fasteners; the new one came with phillips head screws. The phillips head screws were hard to install. Luckily I saved the old hex head fasteners and used them in several places.It took about an hour and a half to make the replacement, and the correct drill bit is a must.

The adjustable tension screw will only turn and lock after just a few knotches. There is no detectable resistance when the gate is opened. The screw cannot be turned any further to add tension because it will not raise up to lock. Useless hinge for a self closing gate. Shop for a different manufacturers product. Inferior design or materials

I needed to replace a broken hinge on a pool gate - this was the correct replacement and it was easy to install. It is made of durable plastic but the reason that I had to replace it was the screw heads widened and then pulled through the plastic. If your gate gets lots of rough handling (yard guys!) I’d recommend installing with a small washer in each screw slot on the exterior flanges to prevent that from happening.
