Wrong Turn 1-5

The Collection : 5 Films.
Splendid 5 disc box set, with English audio and English subtitles for the hearing impaired. Special features on all 5 discs.Like many in the horror genre that have expanded into a series of films the first one is usually the best in my view --- despite the premise (cannibals, inbreds, shocking deaths, buckets of blood for the sake of gore etc.,etc.) we get believable acting from the cast and a plot that seems to work with most of the cast behaving the way most of us would in the same situation. Really tense at times as we discover a group of inbred cannibals stalking a group of stranded motorists, and despatching them in ingenious ways before feeding on them.A further 4 films in this set and you might expect the same plot, weaker acting and ridiculous behaviour by those about to die. True as I saw it but the films do have some astonishing deaths, a lot of them using very clever CGI's and robotics, and certainly will maintain horror fans interest. I can honestly say that they didn't disappoint in the genre, even though some of the actors were dire with a few of them being British and from Brit soap television series such as Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Holby City etc.Nevertheless the prosthetics of the deformed inbreds is stunning and a credit to the Stan Winston Studio, and their limited dialogue just added to the mayhem. Grunts, howling and the constant cackling of the cannibals certainly worked for this viewer. If the producers ever needed an extra in Wrong Turn 8 in the future I can certainly volunteer my wife who has perfected the cackle having sat through all five films in this box set (bless her for her patience). This is what you get :Wrong Turn. 80 minutes, with Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Wrong Turn 2 Dead End. Extreme Edition. 92 minutes with Erica Leerhsen, Henry Rollins.Wrong Turn 3 Left For Dead. 88 minutes, with Tamer Hassan.Wrong Turn 4 Bloody Beginnings. 93 minutes, a prequel setting up the inbreds history and one of the better films (only my humble opinion, there's much to offer for many fans of horror).Wrong Turn 5. 87 minutes, much of the action set in a town, not woods, and looks studio-bound if I'm honest. The films don't pretend to be what they are not ---- simple plots, plenty of blood and gore, a very little bit of sex and nudity, and actors that do their best to entertain viewers. We tried to guess which character would survive each film ---- sometimes none of them but the inbreds somehow come back in the next film despite appearing to die. Worth a watch for the deaths and I view them tongue in cheek --- a shotgun blast that had the volition to blast the victim further than in any of the Sam Peckinpah westerns, slicing of victims into two (or three!) by wire or axe, and a victim whose flesh is used for a fondue meal whilst still alive --- gruesome stuff, and great fun. Cinema of the excess.

Wrong Turn but a Right Buy Box Set
The box set cotains five DVDs covering films 1-5 [all the current versions] each in its own slimline case so shelf space is dramatically redued. Each disc also comes with a variable number of ;special features ;Running time varies between 84 to 96 minutes depending on the movie being viewed. Given the number of films its difficult to give a short review that isn;t too general. The films all share certain characteristics, eaxh basic story involves a small group of people being hunted, stalked, trapped and often eaten by a family or group of canabalistic mutants, The manner of death is often highly original and is always varied from person to person. Some of the characters may survive, but most don't. These films are definately of the gore variety and the pace is never slow. They all keep the attention and will appeal to a wide range of horror fans. There are many gruesome scences and some of the topics covered can be a little unsettling to some viewers. The sound and picture quality is all very good but the acting can be a little hit and miss in places whilst the script is sometimes contradictory or just weak in places. The great overall entertainment value pulls this set to a 4 star and at the current £3 a disc its great value for money. If you can get it cheaper [even second-hand]-go for it. This set should be in every horror fans collection. Well worth it.

EXCELLENT SET
HI I THINK THIS IS A VERY GOOD HORROR FILM BUT GOES OFF BIT LITTLE FROM FILM 4 THEN I WOULD SAY IT'S ONLY AVERAGE SO WHAT 6 IS GOING TO BE LIKE I'LL WAIT AND SEE.IF ANY ONE WAS TO BE A CANABAL I THINK THIS FILM WOULD STILL PUT THEM OFF THEIR FOOD. YOU WOULD CERTAINLY NEED A STRONG STOMACH.

Husband will love it for his birthday!
I gave this four stars because I have already heard how gory the films are. I don't watch horror movies. Cannot stand them. But my husband absolutely loves them and he also loves Eliza Dushku (as do I), so definitely cannot put less than four stars on this pack which comes complete with Finnish subtitles. Now I just need to make sure I am not at home when he watches them ;)

well done
I watched all 5 movies this weekend. Very well written, not a boring minute. Excellent special effects. Some reviewers said the later movies are just repeating the earlier ones, but I disagree with that. Each movie is different enough IMO. The last one in particular has a different kind of villain and works really well.
