AMAZING PRODUCT!(:
Okay , i am 14 yrs old , i ordered this the other day wanting to learn to fight better marine style. Okay one thing i want to clear up is , many people think this is so outdated. Believe me or not but it isnt outdated at all, actually well this is L.I.N.E not M.C.M.A.P , they are a little different but not very. I've been studying MCMAP for awhile now before i got this book. M.C.M.A.P is not very different at all, same content, same moves, just L.I.N.E Is more deadly in my oppinion. In almost 4 years i plan on going into the marines. One thing i want to do is learn to fight really good because i am super jealous of action movie fighters being too awesome and i want to learn how, as well(:. But back to the subject , okay this book introduces the form of L.I.N.E the Marines use. has a pretty good amount of high quality martial arts , nice blocks , and a really good set of ground fighting and close range weapon fighting. If your someone like me i say pick this book. Now i know i'm not going down without a fight, Marine Style ;) , Hooah Marines P.S if you guys would please explain the concept of an R.O.T.C Program to me, i hear you can start out as an officer in the marines after taking one of these programs. Thanks and happy fighting(:

A Cut Above Similar Books on this Subject
Overall, I liked this book. There are some minor complaints. For example: The manual instructs you punch (with your fists) only "soft tissue areas" (I agree on this point by the way), then it proceeds to illustrate a Marine delivering an upper-cut to an opponent's jaw... since when is the jawbone or chin a "soft tissue area"?I'm glad to see the manual cover ground-fighting techniques; however, a lot of important details of the mount, the guard and some of the other key techniques are absent. This won't be a problem if you have a instructor who really knows his material - but I feel a manual of this sort should be more detailed, as soldiers ought to know the fine subtleties of techniques to make them 100% effective.

A no non sense book.
This is a book that gets to the point, and gives you what is useful in the real world situation. There are no katas, or useless moves that could get you killed. It starts off with blocks, deflects, and strikes. Then goes into different weapons and bayonet fighting both defensive, and offensive moves. After that it covers joint locks, chokes, and takedown moves both defensive, and offensive. This book would do slightly better if only it has more pictures illustrating the moves besides describing them word for word. All in all this is the real stuff that anyone can use to defend themselves instead of getting killed.

Historical
This book is well organized and the material is well presented. It is vintage in technical description as some methods today have been modified significantly which you will notice if you take Judo for example. But the information is still very relevant and a great read. It does pull together a number of areas that are interesting and helps identify what is important to the warrior compared to modern day Judo players. In Judo one would learn and hear the comments presented but the shift in priority to understand the level of importance to the war fighter is well done.

Nice book as a gift
I purchased this as a gift for my teenage son after he joined JROTC. He was very interested in the Marines (because of a family history). Although it was not a book he read 'word for word', a lot of the moves were pictured which allowed him to understand and copy. Great choice.

Educational
I bought this book mainly to learn pressure points and techniques for self defense. I am a single female in a big city, and i ride a motorcycle. I know that reading this book will not make me a warrior, but it does give me ideas for how to disengage from an attacker and improve my chances of escaping from a potential robbery, mugging, rape, or homicide.

Offense and defensive training
This is public info but for a KINDLE book, nice price. Remember that the moves shown in this manual are meant for a Marine. Meaning, a marine is physically carved out of wood, and some moves will hurt your person if you are not conditioned. Also, a great deal of these offensive moves will hurt your opponent. Be careful.

Classic
Classic and a useful addition to any library on this subject. It is what it is, not cutting edge but useful techniques that anyone can learn IMHO There are better books out there but this must be taken in the context in which it was written. Like all of these type of books they do not replace actual training.
