Island time. Will take you there.
For Caribbean travelers and island lovers, this series is a slice of life that will take you there. Like an update of Don’t Stop the Carnival. Begs to become a TV series, like the BBC’s “Death in Paradise”. Shad the bartender is a memorable character that fills the page. Recommended.

Another Great Mystery!
This is another very easy book to read that keeps you interested from start to finish. Love all of the scenic descriptions in the novel! I could actually invision being in Largo Bay! Looking forward to the next adventure in this series or perhaps a new one.

The Sea Grape Tree
Superb story. Reminds of home, the sea grape trees, trade winds, Caribbean accent and just a great read without the bosom heaving sex and blood curdling murders and mayhem. A very good read and I can't wait for the 4th book in the Shad series.

Royes's beautiful, credible story line which integrates colorful and complex ...
Who is responsible for this last dastardly act? You must read the novel to find the surprising answer to this compelling story. I read it in 2.5 days. I can hardly wait for the next Shad adventure! Royes's beautiful, credible story line which integrates colorful and complex characters with Jamaican culture and social issues. Layered stories, compelling characters and beautiful landscapes flavor the telling and lend a humane quality to the resolution of personal, business and social problems.Shad, has become my favorite character. His personality unfolds and evolves in each novel. His life experiences shed light on issues that help the reader better understand the socio-cultural history of Jamaica's colorful and resilient people. But wait!! This is not a sociological treatise. These are stories about people you will like, care for, or want to keep at more than arm's length. I've enjoyed getting into the mind of Shad, through this series, as Royes reveals his uncommon 'Common' sense; his ability to find "a way out of no way" when individuals go to (sometimes) murderous lengths to improve their personal circumstances; and the way others' respect and appreciation of his integrity lead to greater opportunities, for Shad, his family and his community.Other characters add spice and diversity. I haven't enjoyed a series so much in a long, long time. What will happen next?
