Q: The feature measurements are different than measurements under product dimensions.... Which is correct??? One will fit my insert, other won't! Help!

The wastebasket measures 10 1/4 inches width at the top, 15 inches length at the top and 18 inches high. It is the only one that would fit in my cabinet.

I don't know what you mean by "what they've made for many years", but it's not super hard, it "gives" a little, and does appear to be molded into shape. The recycling triangle on it says #4 - LDPE. Hope that helps.

the basket I ordered and received was, in fact, 36 qt (it still has its label) - the dimensions are 14.5" x 11" x 18"

These were un-lidded cans. I was not looking for ones with lids. Mine fit in a drawer.
