Asterix and Obelix Mission Cleopatra

What a superb film! An amazing recreation of a favorite Asterix story. Characters and action are brought to life with excellent special effects translating cartoon reality into a 3D world. If your french is pretty good, then go to Amazon.fr and search for "Mission Cleopatre edition prestige" and make sure you get the 2 DVD set: this will give you a most remarkable second disc with interviews, but above all a full length documentary on the making of this film. And you'll find that Amazon.fr have all your details at hand and that ordering is as easy as from Amazon.com. I have watched this documentary twice now with great enjoyment and have gained immense admiration for the military precision necessary to make a film of this complexity. The reason I recommend the French 2-DVD set for french speakers is because of the lack of english subtitles, although my wife still enjoyed the documentary since most of the content is visual and obvious.

IT'S "MISSION CLEOPATRE" INDEED WITH THE VERY BEAUTIFUL "MONICA BELLUCCI" AS THE QUEEN OF EGYPT !! THIS IS THE MAIN REASON WHY I PURCHASED THIS MOVIE, AND WHAT A SIGHT SHE IS AS "CLEOPATRE" ..... WOW, AND I GIVE HER THE FIVE STARS ! TO MY SURPRIZE I FOUND THIS MOVIE TO BE VERY FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING ASWELL. NO BIG DEAL WITH THE ENGLISH DUBBED VOICES NOT IN SYNCH WITH THE ACTORS, IT JUST ADDS TO THE COMEDY AND CRAZINESS OF IT ALL ! FYI, "AMAZON.COM DVD-R" DID A GREAT JOB ALLOWING US HERE IN THE U.S. TO SEE THIS UNIQUE FOREIGN FILM BY "REGION" TRANSFER. THE PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY ON THIS DVD-R IS VERY GOOD.

Great Fun!!! They really capture the spirit though they don't follow the letter of the books! The version I purchased didn't have any extras which was too bad. I saw a rental version years ago with a "Making of.." bonus which would have been great to have. Still a movie that I can watch over and over, I'm glad I bought it.

Having trouble with the roman empire, pirates and sneaky politicians, not to mention your home builder...droid or druid ? The little village in Gaul that was never conquered is a vivid and funny place to visit. Funny and amazing as pyramid workers go on strike and legions "follow orders" and history gets tweaked. Funny and great gators.

I'm happy to get this movie with original French soundtrack--the movie is published in a large array of languages and editions, most of which don't include French. However, this edition does not have an original French movie, nor English subtitles, but rather the original movie with English subtitles burnt into the video, so they cannot be removed. Hmmm. So the movie is for Anglophones, most of whom live in the USA. This is a Region 2 DVD. There's nothing wrong with that, but why publish a DVD for European players that has American subtitles burnt in, that cannot be played by Americans?Question: When a customer pays good money for a movie, what's wrong with giving it to him? In my opinion, all such movies should be mastered with the original-language sound track with OPTIONAL dubbed voices in other languages; OPTIONAL original screenplay subtitles in the original language, and OPTIONAL foreign subtitles in as many languages as possible. A DVD like this is better than nothing, but a poor substitute for anyone who wanted to see the movie unadulterated.

A modern and love action update of the classic comic tale. Mission Cleopatra, brings christian clavier and gerard Depardieu back to the classic roles of asterix and obelix. Visual gags aplenty in this tale of ceasar's wager that Cleo cannot out build the romans firing her to tap so so architect who gets help from his Gaulish friends. A family friendly comedy in the vein of Popeye and kung Ru hustler.

Fun. I'm learning French and to be honest I don't understand everything, but it is very helpful.There is no English subtitle on the DVD I purchased so if you need English subtitles be sure to look for them.

This film captures the fun and joy of the original books. Nothing like seeing a Roman soldier go flying out of his uniform. I can't think of a better Obelix than Depardieu. Unfortunately not available in US format, but tante pis.

Schnell geliefert, sehr gut!

Quite a funny film. A challenge is issued to build a palace within a short space of time and, of course, until Asterix and Obelix become involved with their magic potion to give super powers, there is no real progress. Definitely a film which younger family members can enjoy. We would rather see Depardieu in his more serious roles, but it was still fun to watch. (We used the well-written English subtitles with the French sound track and it was good to compare the differences, especially between the original French names and the ones used in the English subtitles!)

Simplistic, Stupid, Daft, Wooden acting and actually a Riot, a hoot and bloody hilarious..!!If you want a dumb film and a laugh, this is it.. Suspend belief, a French take on the Carry On movie..

Entweder auf Französich mit englischen Untertiteln oder auf Englisch, dann abr ohne Untertietel. Was wäre daran so schwer, im Englischen auch englische Untertiel zu haben?
