Quality.
This is the second makita grinder I have owned in 30 years. Many different brands in between. I am a Milwaukee guy for the most part because the tools hold up for what I do as a contractor. I did have a Milwaukee not long ago but gave it away cause it always popped breakers. I ran this makita hard out of the box grinding concrete for 2 days. This never popped a breaker and I always find a dedicated when using them.I would buy another for sure.

It's a beast, but will wear you down using it
I had to cut up four 1940s era steel tubs - really thick and heavy stuff, not something you can break up with a sledge hammer like 60s era steel ceramic tubs I've dealt with in the past. I sprung for this unit and it didn't disappoint - went through a few diamond blades slicing those tubs into pieces to pull them out. Felt like a train had run me over when I was done but this unit chewed through them with authority. I've used it for cleaning up steel mesh when taking out walls and the like but it's a bit heavy and unwieldy for working over your head. Granted I'm rocking my dad bod so maybe fitter folks using these would have less trouble. I ended up breaking out my smaller DeWalt angle grinder for jobs needing finesse.

Worked Well For Grinding Tile Thinset
I had several tile projects and for my first project I used a Dewalt grinder that was at least $100 more than this Makita. I sold it, not thinking I would be doing any more tiling. When I decided to tackle one last smaller project, I went with this less expensive Makita. Just like when I had used the Dewalt, I added a dust shroud with the grinder, along with a Dust Deputy and shop vac setup to help contain the dust. The grinder and shroud were nearly half the cost of the Dewalt setup. This Makita worked well for the job. I'd imagine if I went with the Makita originally it would have had no problem handling the 800+ sqft of total floor that needed to have thinset removed. Using this grinder and a cup wheel makes quick work of thinset and it's amazing how smooth and nice the plywood looks after you're done. Just need to vacuum remaining dust and mop the floor to prepare it for the underlayment. Saves buying new plywood if you're existing plywood is in decent shape. At today's cost of plywood and the lesser quality of the materials compared to 15-20 years ago, it's worth the time and cost to save having to rip out and install new plywood.Would not hesitate to recommend this tool!
