Jansen Inshore Tackle was founded in 2001 by Dutch angler, Stephen Jansen in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Jansen grew up in a small town just outside of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. His grandpa introduced him to fishing at the age of 5. Growing up in Europe, he mainly fished freshwater for pike and zander (cousin of the walleye). Stephen started traveling to Mexico in 1995 at the age of 20 and moved from Holland to Cabo in 1999. He spent his first couple of years in Mexico taking people out on guided surf fishing trips. It was then when he realized that most of the tackle on the market was designed for different fish, different presentations, and different waters. Jansen started adapting his tackle that resulted in many more productive days on the beach for him and his clients. The first lure Stephen designed was the famous “Cabo Killer”. The lure got his name because it’s a “Killer” lure, handmade at the time in Cabo. The Cabo Killer led to a wide range of high quality, very productive fishing lures as well as rods, reels, line and terminal tackle.
