Hope Rising: Stories from the Ranch of Rescued Dreams Paperback – August 5, 2003

This is a wonderful book filled with heartfelt, spiritually awakening stories obviously written by someone who has a heart full of love for her fellow human beings, the creatures we share this earth with and this glorious realm of life gifted to us by our Lord. I picked it up and couldn't put it down. From the first page I was moved to tears and so grateful for the wonderful life that I have been blessed with. How one person could so deeply understand how to mend the broken souls and spirits of these children and animals is truly a gift of sight from God. If only more individuals could be moved to do more for their fellow man and animals, wouldn't the world be a much better place? I am often reminded by God's call to service with events like the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and families across our country struggling during desperate economic times; but, I now fully realize thanks in part to this wonderful book and woman, how service, love, healing, and community have always been and will always be part of our journey in life in the smallest of ways. I hope others will buy and read this book and be moved to do more with their lives to help our planet, our fellow creatures, and most of all our fellow human beings. I thank God daily for wonderful human beings who walk this earth, guided by angels to help others in their time of need. I am grateful that Kim Meeder and others like her open their hearts daily to his message and help perpetuate His "miracles". Thank you Kim, for sharing your stories with the world and opening my eyes to His will. God Bless you!

Great bookI love reading all her books

I read this book a few years ago and it left such a mark on my heart. The writing style is simple yet the author’s words paint such a beautiful picture that warms the soul. Admittedly, I shed a few tears but that’s what made this a memorable read for me. Looking forward to reading it again on my vacation.

I was very impressed with the subject and the wonderful way she "drew pictures" with her words that enabled me to feel I was right there in person watching it happen. It is a non-fiction story that shares the "miracles" that have come about by bonding children, that have experienced things no child should, with mistreated and starved horses that Kim and her husband have rescued. Their ranch, Crystal Peaks Youth Camp in Oregon, is a non-profit organization. They have a staff of counselors that help the children in a place of safety, peace and hope.They share the transformation of these precious children. It is amazing what a child and horse can accomplish.Kim shared the ups and downs their organization has experienced. She explained how they were able to survive the tough times. It's really a choice we all have to choose to survive or give up. Instead of looking down - we need to look up - to God. Hw'll give us strength to go through the problems.I loved at the end when she shared what some of the kids were doing now that they are grown. It is truly a touching book. If this book doesn't touch your heart, you don't have one.

This is an amazing book! It's full of love for people and horses, healing for people and horses, and hope for people and horses. Kim and her husband Troy run a ranch in Oregon for neglected/injured/abused horses, or just horses in need of a home, and run a ministry serving people in the community who are in need of the hope and cheer working with horses can bring. The author has a very poetic writing style, and is able to capture the importance of even the little moments. The overall message of the book points to Christ as the giver of true hope, and is a great encouragement to believers to let Christ love others through them. This book is a collection of standalone stories that make you want to find a horse to pet or a kid to hug. =)

What a wonderful read. It gives you faith in humanity again. Just after I finished this book I purchased 2 more copies and had them mailed to the horse lovers in our family. Everyone loves this book and has hope for this ranch. My horse loving good willed sister passed away shortly after reading this and I truly believe God put this book in my hands for a reason. We made beautiful donations to this Ranch in her name and I know she’d be flattered.. they are remarkable people with unbending faith. Give it a read and see what a difference 2 people can make.

You will especially like this if you are a horse lover. Stories about how humans and horses help to heal each other.

From the first page, I was hooked. The book is organised not into chapters, but individual stories. This makes it a delight to read. Each couple of pages is a journey into the deepest soul.The only downside, if it is one, is that it becomes a little 'preachy' toward the end. It becomes less about the pure emotional interaction between horse and human, and more about Kim's faith and her personal beliefs. That kind of lost me a bit.All-in-all it's a beautiful collection of stories of love, hope and acceptance that will leave you in tears.
