One Piece, Vol. 18: Ace Arrives

Bought this for my son to go with his collection. He stated it is one to keep.

This book introduces the fan favorite Ace, who we find out is the brother of Luffy (spoiler). The gang sets out to stop Crocodile and we find out that Ace is strong enough to defeat Smoker easily. On top of that but we learn that the whole kingdom has been devestated by sandstorms, along with who is leading the rebellion against Vivi's father. It was an interesting read and easily one of the best in the arc.

Though vol. 18 is titled "Ace Arrives," Ace makes only a short appearance. What this volume is really about, aside from Oda's characteristic humour and humanity, is the reveal of the Baroque Works' grand scheme. Anyway, read it and enjoy.

Excellent motivator for getting my son to read.My son grew up in Japan and has had trouble transitioning into reading English. These books in English with, farmiliar pictures make it easy for him to stay motivated when reading.

A MUST READ FOR ALL MANGA FANS, ONE PIECE FANS, ANIME FANS... btw I started watching One Piece anime before reading the Manga... I then decided to get the manga and read them. They are amazing :D

This volume is the beginning of the Alabasta arc. It starts with the funny character and Baroque Work’s officer agent, Mr2. Bon Clay. His character is so unique that Alabasta arc always reminds me of him. And also translation related him is great. If you’re a big ONE PIECE fan, it’s worth of reading only this part. I should also write that Luffy’s brother, Ace appeared on ONE PIECE for the first time. I want you to read what he’s done because he’s going to be key element in the later of ONE PIECE.　I personally like Alabasta arc the most in ONE PIECE, and the scene the Straw Hat pirates and Vivi show their left arms each other to make sure the secret sign is one of my best one in this arc.　Through the volume, you can see two figures in Vivi. One is her crying over what Crocodile has done to her country. Alabasta is not only her mother country but herself because she’s felt a big responsibility as the princess of the country, so for her, each citizen’s life is equivalent with her life. The other is her enjoying the adventure with them. On the way to Alabasta, Vivi experienced she never had. She saw something unbelievable, laughed with them, fought for them, thought a lot of things she can’t do if she’s in Alabasta. Although the Straw Hat pirate’s been with Vivi to send her to Alabasta, they finally lands in there. Everyone’s here. With Vivi’s crying over her devastated country and unveiling the president of BW, known as Mr.0 and his men, all of officer agents, Alabasta arc goes ahead as it is at the full speed.

Luffy and his comrades start to meet new people. Luffy is always forthright and is never evasive. Luffy captures Vivi’s heart in this way, and a great adventure with Vivi (one of my favorite adventures) will start in full swing.

One piece volume 18- Chapters 156 up to 166Chopper has joined the crew after event is volume 17 and the ship now has a doctor. As the crew continue their journey to Alabasta when it is shown that several people are on the lookout for Luffys arrival including Baroque works and others... Further progression into the Baroque works arc more of the people in the organisation are revealed including Mr 2.

One Piece ist für mich der beste Manga, ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen. Die englische Übersetzung finde ich bei allen Mangas deutlich besser und angenehmer zu lesen.
