Worth it!
Having asked around a bit, I finally pulled the trigger and got one of these to replace the inferior throw-off that came with the phenomenal World Max "Black Hawg" brass snare drum. So glad I did. The drum has always sounded great to me, but consistency with the snare tension was always an issue with the stock throw off (and I was too chicken to use any sort of thread locker on the adjustment bolt!). Not so with the Drum Foundry. Installation was a breeze, and it is a beautifully machined piece of gear. Now if the screws that attached the butt plate to the shell were adjustable as well, it'd be perfect (I ended up leaving the original World Max butt plate which is serviceable). Other than that, this comes highly recommended.

Missing Part!
It looks and feels like an amazing snare throw, however when mine arrived missing the piece that attatches the throw off to the snare drum. I would really love to test this thing out, but I can't seem to get a hold of ANYONE who can replace the missing piece for me! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

I'd like to give this throwoff a five star rating
I'd like to give this throwoff a five star rating, but I can't.First, the positives: very heavy duty design. Super smooth action. Doesn't slip at all. Channels for the mounting of the butt plate, which is genius, and exactly why I purchased this set to begin with. Installation of the throwoff is super easy. And the one negative: the two hex-head bolts used to affix the butt plate are seriously soft. I purchased one set through Amazon, one set direct through the manufacturer, and on both, the hex head stripped out on all four bolts. Either I have super human strength, or these bolts are made of seriously flimsy metal.I would definitely purchase this set again, and I plan on it. But I won't even bother attempting to affix the butt plate with the supplied bolts.

Great Throw-off
I'm a drum builder and I've recently purchased this strainer and butt to use on a 14x8" stave shell snare. My only gripe is that the bolts included were not long enough to go through my shell. I had to purchase bolts separately but it was not difficult at all.The strainer functions smoothly and locks nice and tight. This is a great alternative to the Trick and Ego drum supply strainers and about $20 cheaper. It has a unique mounting feature in that the bolt spacing on the strainer is adjustable. The bolt-heads simply rest in a t-slot on the back side of the throw-off meaning you can distance them however you choose. I imagine this would come in handy if you were using this on a shell with pre-drilled holes.
