Great for the impromptu or those starting out in mentalism.
I'm used to card, coin and other street/close up material but have never looked at mentalism seriously. This book provides a great intro to the field and I am quickly getting hooked. There are a number tricks I would be happy to use straight away; genuinely usable material. I have lost count of the books and tricks I've bought which will never see the light of day! I would recommend this to anyone who has never tried mentalism or who want a list of impromptu material.

Ok. Not great.
It has good basics on mentalism. Some of the routines feel clunky and over- complicated. I'd say, not really a beginners book.

Decent
Pretty good book with a very good presentation of basic mentalist effects. Good resource for planning a performance and a solid read that is great for the beginner.

Good for kids
A shallow description of bad tricks. There is nothing here about "mentalism". It is just a stupid description of hard-to-perform card tricks. What a deceitful title. Save your money and save your time. And if you have it, throw it in the waste basket....fast!

Average...
To start with the critic: The author claims, that no "sleight of hand" is necessary. Nevertheless he describes some tricks on the basis of center tear and card force - without describing how to do these. On the plus side: A good introduction how to select spectators, how to deal with your audience and useful thougths about creating a performance. If you are just interested in learning the "tricks", a better choice are:- Fulves' Self working Mental Magic (for Beginners)- Annemann's Practical Mental Magic (to me not for Beginners)- Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism (highly recommended in combination with the DVDs by Richard Osterlind (same title) - a bit pricy, but worth every cent!)In each of these Books you'll find a bunch of impromptu mentalism effects.

Lots of easy to learn and useful tricks for entertaining others
I can heartily recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn highly effective but easily learned mentalism tricks, for parties and the such. Each trick is explained in detail, and it is always clear how it works. I have used some of the tricks after reading, always to great effect. The book keeps its promise of being practical, and while it does not cover more complicated effects it gives you the basics, which allow you also to create your own routines.
