A bulb thtas every bit as good as it's over priced big brand competitor.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This Wifi Bulb arrived well packaged in a cardboard boxThe box contained 1x Wifi Bulb, 1x Instruction BookletPlease note that this bulb is an Edisson Screw type fitting, and not a standard UK Bayonet. If you want to use this in a Bayonet socket you will need to purchase a seperate adapter, or as I have done, change your bayonet light socket over to an Edisson one.I bought an Amazon Alexa earlier this year as I liked the idea of it. It didn't take long for me to buy my first set of Wifi LED bulbs. My first set were very expensive as I went for the mainstream well know brand. It's now nice to see that other options are starting to appear that perform the same functions but cost a fraction of the price of the larger brand. The large brand also require a Hub to function where as these bulbs do not. I recently purchased an Alexa compatible Socket from this company and was very impressed so felt I had to try out their bulbs.Setting up this bulb is very simple. You need to search your devices Appstore for an App called "eFamily Cloud" or use a QR Scanner to scan the provided QR Code. Once installed create an account using either a mobile number or valid email address (You'll need access to the email address to validate your account). Once your logged in, add a new device by clicking the + button in the top right hand corner of the app. You'll need to be connected to your wifi router. You will be prompted for your Wifi password and the app will then connect your bulb to your network. Once connected it's important that you change the bulbs name to something your want to use to activate it with Alexa, Ie "Bedroom" if it's going to be used in the bedroom.Once complete you can use the App to control the bulb. You have a great range of control over the bulb including brightness, colour and schedule. You can also turn the bulb on and off. You can use this app anywhere in the world as long as you have a network connection. You could be in Amsterdam controlling your bulb in a house in Manchester. The schedule feature also allows you to set a time for your bulb to switch on or off and day of the week, perfect for dettering would be burgalers. Now all this is good, but I wanted thiese for use with Alexa so...To setup these bulbs with Alexa, open your Alexa app and go to smart home. Scroll to the bottom and scan for new devices. Your Bulb should now show on the list with the name you gave it earlier (Eg Mine is called Stairs as it will be used on my Stairs) Your now good wo go with Alexa. You get all the usual commands for use with Alexa that you'd expect (Alexa turn on Stairs, Alexa turn off Stairs) etc. You can also Alexa to dim the bulb or even set it to a specific percentage of brightness. You can also use Alexa to change the colour to basic colours like blue, green purple pink etc.I can honestly say that this bulb compares very very well indeed compared to the big brand name. The brightness is equal and the range of colours appears to be every bit as good. The reaction speed of the bulb is the same as well. Build quality is very high indeed, with an alloy body and smooth plastic top. The bulb is extremely responsive when used with the App with noticable changes to even the most subtle of colour changes. There is an option for scenes in the app but I assume you would need more bulbs for this option to work similarly to the big brand.Overall I have to say that I am extremely impressed with this bulb. it is less than half the price of it's large brand rivals and yet perfroms every bit as well. It's a plus that it works without a cumbersome hub as well. All I need now is for a company like this one to design some reasonably priced Alexa controlled Strip lights for behind my TV and units and I'll be an extremely happy bunny.
