Quick setup, easy, fast wifi
As I've come to learn with Unifi products, this setup is very fast, very reliable, and is a huge upgrade from any consumer grade Wifi. The price to performance here is incredible, and you can never really go wrong with a Unifi product. This is also a great way to get an ethernet connection where you wouldn't be able to otherwise, and is leagues better than those ethernet over the power in your house devices which are both more costly and far less fast and reliable. As expected from Unifi, I've had 0 issues with either speed or reliability since plugging it in day one, and I expect it to continue to chug along for years to come. Fantastic work.

Just buy it.
As an IT professional, I have seen some routers that are very restrictive, over complicated, and rarely promise on what they claim. AmpliFi by Ubiquiti does everything it claims and offers a ton of power in a small package. One of my biggest gripes about routers is how they handoff communications from different devices within the network. Usually a 2.4ghz device cannot transmit to a 5ghz device on a home network without one device having to go to the 2.4ghz band. This requires the user to have a separate 2.4ghz band and 5ghz band. AmpliFi doesn't need two separate bands for the devices. It determines if your device can use the 2.4ghz band or 5GHz band, then adds them to a unified network. What this means is all devices can talk to each other without having to change their bands. This is especially important when making a smart home and activating devices. It also allows any device to utilize it's fastest connection speed. Also, it really does only take a few minutes to setup. Ubiquiti got it down. This router is solid. Ditch the cable router and upgrade. It is well worth it.

Updated review: Second unit is solid, meets expectations, below average router to mesh point range
UPDATE: I received a second unit and the install went much smoother. Router connected in a couple minutes and network was live. Mesh point synced into the system maybe 2-3 minutes after boot up. I moved the mesh point to desired room, which is one floor up and one room over from the router. Signal was at ~60% which seems quite poor for such a short distance (two walls made of drywall and wood floors in between). Running this method I was seeing speeds in the 20mbps range (I get 220mbps next to router). Thankfully the Amplifi Insant allows an ethernet backbone. I selected this option and plugged into the switch I happened to have in this room and all is good. I have good coverage and good speed. I would say that had I not had an available ethernet line in this room I would have been disappointed by the speeds and had to either return the unit, add a third mesh point or simply move the mesh point closer to the router. Just so I can share scale here, our home is 2700 sq ft. So two units should be more than sufficient without the backbone.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I honestly expected this to be a five star buy no questions asked, but a number of issues occurred. Wanted to put this review out there as a heads up.First, the router connected very quickly, setup went well. As I went upstairs to plug in the mesh point I lost internet from the router. Looking on my device is said no internet connection, even though I was connected to the SSID. I was no more than 20 ft from the router. I reset the router and did not have the same issue right away, so I went to connect the mesh point. Plug in mesh point, lights up and... nothing. Amplifi app is telling me it is not connected in any way. Not available for setup. Just nothing.A bit bummed out I figure maybe its too far from the router, which would be disappointing. Head back to router, plug mesh point in next to router. Same outcome. Just to be clear, all of my "old" networking devices were disconnected and modem unplugged before starting. So after investing 40 minutes of trial and error I'm returning it. This is probably most frustrating because on the front of the box they tout "setup in under 2 minutes." I will be giving a second unit a go to hopefully have a better experience. If things improve with unit number two I will revise my review. I know Ubiquiti tends to make good stuff which is why I am ordering a second unit. Will report back either way on outcome of unit two.

This just works and setup is really easy and fast
I installed this in a small home which has had wireless problems due to the layout. First of all the installation process is very straightforward. The base unit set up very quickly. The mesh extension came up in a couple of minutes. There was a firmware update which went flawlessly and the performance of the extension was noticeably improved. I can monitor the devices remotely which is great on such an inexpensive WiFi system. All in all, I highly recommend this as long as it meets your requirements. For larger homes or more intense WiFi performance, I would go with the more appropriate Ubiquiti systems.

A brilliant - self managing - high speed - WIFI
I got the as a gift knowing that it would be top shelf. I have an HD system already and it has worked with 0 faults/issues/complaints for a few years now. This system is no different. It was minutes to setup, lovely to look at, and fast. There is no lag and now the person I got it for has full coverage no matter where they are. Before there were huge dead spots. Now, streaming is possible everywhere. These guys have nailed home and small office WIFI. Their attention to detail and quality is at a level I would expect from companies like Apple. If you want WIFI to work then Amplifi is the way to go.

Garbage, mesh does not connect or work
I just spent two hours trying to get the mesh device to connect, and then saw on Amazon another reviewer experienced the exact same issue, so i will paste what they wrote. Suffice to say, this did not work and I'm not interested in waiting for a replacement device, how can it not work, at all, out of the box? Here's what I experience, same as this other user wrote"First, the router connected very quickly, setup went well. Just nothing."

These are truly great
I like the implementation and features of this wifi system. In most cases I’ve found that the base kit which includes the router and one extender is more than enough to meet your needs. Great to know you can extend it further. Easy to setup, robust feature set for the home user, solid wifi.

No lo vale.
Muy bonito. Pero No mejor que el desempeño del equipo de Telmex. El punto de acceso se desconecta.

Cheap hardware in a premium package
The set up was fine, but definitely not the 2 minute setup the box advertised. Standing next to the router my wifi speeds are close to what I'm paying for but being beside the mesh point, it's a 10th of the router. My house is 2000sq ft and this is supposed to cover double that. I've been in contact with support but the emails back and forth have been slow so I'm now passed the return date.I returned a cheaper tp link deco M5 because it needed to be reset every couple days but the speed was great beside the router and mesh point. The signal strength from router to mesh is 100% but the speeds isn't showing that.Edit: changed review from 3 to 1 star. I have gigabit internet and this will only go to about 300mbps wired. It has a gigabit Ethernet port but support says it's the slowest of their products and will not reach gigabit speeds, recommended that I upgrade to the HD or Alien router. The mesh point is in the room above the router and the max wireless speed I get is maybe 20-30mbps on a good day.The in app router speed test never goes over 150mbps?Too much R&D went into the LCD screen that you'll never see and not enough when into the hardware you need. Not impressed I find all this out after the return period is over.
