SHSAT Practice Tests: NYC Edition

This book is amazing to really dig in deep!Do study other material first as this is definitely harder than any other book (we have worked in most).The author responds very quickly via email (address in book).If you order in/after fall 2016 you are getting the UPDATED version so you do not need to email him (I did because I wasn't sure when I got it and checked the correct answer file the author send me via email and they were corrected already in my book - it does NOT say it's the second edition or updated or anything like that. Just know if you order now you will get the right/corrected one!!Highly recommended but HARDER!!TIP: we started "too late" with this book..... but even if you do like us, and it is "too" hard for kids studying for the test, you can use it as study material only. Answers are full descriptions and you learn from those to bring your brain to next level. If you plan better, you can get kids to master this one too and take SHSAT and think it's a breeze (or so it's said).Great book, awesome author! Highly recommened!

I am very thankful that I came across this book in my search on Amazon! My daughter finds the questions more challenging than others that she has encountered. Which is find because this will help bring her to the next level!I will definitely recommend this book to my son's friend when it is their turn:)I contacted the author for an updated answer key (didn't need after all), and got a very prompt response.Overall, a very positive experience!!

A little difficult comparing to others and real one but worth having it to dig more into theory.

This book is awesome. My son loves it. This book is very hard and challenges kids minds. I wouldn't recommend this book if this is your first time studying for the SHSAT because it is pretty hard for beginners but I would really recommend it if your child is above and beyond and really understands the SHSAT concepts really well.

Unfortunately, this book was published in 2014 & so outdated that the sections in this text aren’t relevant to what’s on the test now, as many changes have been made. For instance, scrambled paragraphs, logic, etc. those sections are no longer on the SHSAT. The publisher should’ve noted this to all current buyers or updated the book to reflect the latest material instead of material from 5 years ago. It felt extremely wasteful and misleading to purchase this book, even more so since there’s no way that the seller wouldn’t be aware of how useless this book as it lacks the actual study material needed for the current or even past two years SHSAT. To still allow people to buy this is a dishonest, scheming, money-making tactic.

Good practices. Some are very challenging. Some answer keys do not agree with the answer explanations. More editing of the book should be done.

This book is really good to take your SHSAT game to the next level. However, beware, this book is a lot more complex than the other books in the market. I recommend it as a challenge or for those fast learners.
