Becoming Fully Alive!
Reading this inspiring book is like seeing a sunrise for the first time! Desmond Tutu, joined by his daughter Mpho, invite us to imagine a way of living that brings us fully alive; a way of being that says, "You matter" because your are loved by the Holy One for your existence. They invite us beyond the smallness of divisions and suspicion into the gladness of everyday life. Our own goodness has an impact way beyond anything we might imagine! Through it we remember that "I am because we are" - we are part of the oneness of the human family and Creation. No matter your religion or spirituality, this book invites a life of gladness in which love and compassion are not merely concepts, but part of our daily living. No wonder Tutu is the iconic spiritual voice of hope! The book is a keeper! This is spritual wisdom for being fully alive and engaged. Robert V. Taylor [...]

I want to be like Desmond Tutu
This is a great book for discussion groups. Many issues are presented that offer excellent, yet sometimes difficult, topics for group discussion and thought. I got this book for a group and I am learning so much, most of all that I want the joy for life and love of others that Desmond Tutu has and this book offers insight into his and his daughters lives that make them who they are. Desmond Tutu has witnessed some of the worlds worst horrors and yet he truly believes that we are all basically good and that we are made for goodness. His discussion is compelling and this book inspires myself--who has not witnessed the level of human evil that he has---to be a better person. A must read for all, that we all may one-by-one improve the world.

Powerful!
Tremendous! I've purchased 40 copies of this book in the last month to share with my family, friends and community. I can't believe it was published in 2011 and I didn't discover it until now. Highly recommend!

"Goodness" is great
This book is a wonderful, gentle reminder that we all have goodness inside us; we just need to tune into it. Desmond and Mpho Tutu give many examples of goodness that has come from unexpected sources. Forgiveness is another important theme. The Tutus show that even the most heinous atrocities can be forgiven, and that forgiving the perpetrators actually benefits the victims of these atrocities. Most moving are the beautiful, meditative messages from God at the end of each chapter.

This refreshing book is the perfect antidote to all of the mudslinging that went during this presidential election cycle. If more people would read this book, we'd have a society where people would respect rather than attack one another. Reading this book will reinforce your own self esteem as well as restore your faith in our communities. It gives us all reasons to hope that good can and will prevail.

Inspirational!
'Made for Goodness'is the most inspirational book I have read in a long time. The message of love and forgiveness, supported by tales from many countries of people who were able to look beyond their own pain and find forgiveness for those who had harmed them, or their loved ones, is truly remarkable. South Africa has been so fortunate to have both a Desmond Tutu and a Mandela in their time of need. I will revisit this book time and again, especially in times of trouble, so that Tutu's and Mpho's messages of love and goodness can help me heal.

Total inspiration!
'Made for Goodness, and why this makes all the difference'. So says the title of this astounding book. It contains all that made up the horror, pain and grief of the South African apartheid system, for which both sides of the divide carried blame, to greater or lesser degree, but with his unshakable belief that 'goodness' would persist and win because God designed it so, Desmond Tutu explains his deeply held faith in the ultimate triumph of good over evil.It is an easily accessible book with many of his and his daughter's at times very personal insights, born out of experience and practise, which cannot fail to hearten its readers. There are prayers and ways to pray which will long impact on my own faith - and enhance it. Made For Goodness: And why this makes all the difference A UK imprint from America, there are the occasional differences in spelling, but this makes a wonderful present to keep and/or share with others, that can only bring about an enlightening outlook on our troubled world. I read this book slowly - didn't want it to end.
Obviously Desmund Tutu is an awesome man. He's awesome because he's lived through terrible times often when there seemed like little hope of change and yet he's come out peaceful and wise. I often choose books to read whilst I'm commuting to work on the Red Jet ferry from Cowes - and this book was chosen for that person. I couldn't but help starting the day joyful. Thoroughly recommended.

but his faith in a God of love who has created us for goodness never seems to ...
This is one of the most inspiring and hope-filled books I have read, by a man (and his daughter) who has suffered more than most of us can imagine, yet remains unfailingly upbeat. I'm sure his faith in humanity must have been shaken many times, but his faith in a God of love who has created us for goodness never seems to have wavered. If you want to give yourself a treat, read this book.
