Rootrainers 8 Books (32 Cells) Deep 12cm Root Trainers

I know that the concept works very well but I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews because as many point out they are very flimsy plastic not much more than the plastic you get in a biscuit / chocolate box and I will be surprised if they last more than 2 seasons and I suspect I will have to put a band around them to hold them together.17/05/17 I transplanted my plants from these last night and I am really impressed by the root formation so yes I would recommend although I still have concerns about how long they will last. I suggest that you clean them immediately and rinse well and store out of sun light and you may get 3 - 5 seasons out of them.

These actually worked quite well. We have been quite successful with sewing herbs and veggie seeds. The idea of the system is brilliant but the root trainers themselves are made of very cheap thin "crackly" brittle plastic. They arrived flat packed in a Jiffy bag-type envelope and the edges of the "books" were cracked. We did not bother sending them back for refund as looking at the product and using it, we do not envisage these to last more than 2 seasons of sewing.If only the manufacturer could produce these in better plastic, I am sure the cost will not "rocket" as I could buy throw-away plastic cups in better quality plastic than these and tons cheaper.

I've been using rootrainers for years, and have ordered extra cells as they wear out over the years. This current lot are made of a different plastic, the moulding isn't as 'sharp' so they don't fir together as snuggly as they used to. Consequently it's impossible to fit 8 'books' into the holders. It's a nuisance, 7 is too loose and they gape, and I defy anyone to succeed in putting 8 in the holder.

I have been buying these for years, extremely useful for starting off my runner beans in the greenhouse. However, the plastic seems to have got thinner and more brittle over the years. I know that we should be cutting down our plastic use, but these used to last for years and now I have to replace every other year. Am looking for a sturdier brand.

These are very easy to use. On to our second's season use now with the and they are still holding up well.Makes repotting really easy because of the way they open up and means I am less likely to damage my little veg plants whilst they are still very young and tender.Did also buy the roottrainer set which came with a tray which makes it easier to keep these upright though I'm sure anyone with a vague bit of diy skills could knock something up to keep these upright.Good value for money and will be buying more.
