Go for the metal version
I have several co-workers who use this tool to do soft tissue work on their patients, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon & order one for myself. In my typical frugal self, I decided to order the less expensive plastic version. While still durable, I do wish I would have just splurged and paid twice as much for the metal version, which is obviously more durable, of a greater quality, & has a better feel. I have only used this on myself (for my own plantar fasciitis issues) & it is certainly smooth to use & is far more comfortable on my poor little thumbs. I have not used it on any of my patients yet (I’m a PT) because a truly feel I am more capable of identifying certain tight & restricted areas of soft tissue better with my hands/thumbs than I can with this tool & I can better adjust the amount of pressure I should use. Ask me in a few more years – when my thumbs start to give me issues – and I might change my mind!Overall this is a nice product & I know several people who swear by it. Despite my frugality, I would recommend the metal version over the plastic version.

Affordable and Versatile Tool for Soft-Tissue Mobilization
The EDGEility tool for IASTM (Instrumented Soft-Tissue Mobilization) is an affordable, light weight tool that easy to use. The various edges or sides of the tool allow for different options of either lighter and more superficial skin work (with the sharper side), and deeper work (more for muscle tonus reduction) with the duller side. One can even wedge in between hand or foot joints to treat the deeper intrinsic muscles. There are many options and hand hold positions with this tool, all which allow a therapist or clinician to maintain a relatively neutral wrist position; a big plus to avoid wear and tear on the therapists body!Erson Religioso, the physical therapist who developed this product, has done a great job helping to educate therapists and clinicians that IASTM doesn't have to be performed with overly expensive metal or plastic devices; At under $50, this device costs peanuts compared to other more popular brands. Of course if one wants a metal tool, which does give a different feel, you could look at the stainless steel version of this tool called "The Edge." I am going to picking up one of those as well since I've been very impressed with this plastic version.

Does a good job, despite cheap appearance
This product at first glance comes across as a piece of junk. It arrived in an envelope with the device wrapped in bubble wrap. No packaging, no instructions - nothing. The plastic had the smell of cheap chinese goods in a dollar store. I was very close to immediately returning it before I decided to give it a try.It actually works rather well. My occupational therapist used Hawk Grips on me, and this provides a very similar massage. Compared to the cost of similar tools ($100-300), this is actually not that bad of a price. The lack of any legitimate product packaging still makes it feel like the price is nowhere near justified though. In summary, this may very well be worth the money for you - but you definitely won't feel like it was until after you try it.

Works as expected
Though the photos might lead you to believe that the EDGEility tool is made of metal, its actually made of some sort of plastic or polycarbonate material (the one I received was that way). Whatever it is, the material seems durable, but doesn't have the heft of a metal implement. That said, the material resonates well upon contact with fibrous tissue. Also, there are a good variety of surfaces for different IASTM treatments. The tool fits well in the hand for the most part, but can leave your hands sore after an intense scraping session if you use a strong "handle bar" type grip on the tool.Overall, no complaints.

Works for most body surfaces
I like that the edge tool has a sharp edge and a beveled edge and several different shaped surfaces. I use it on fingers, hands, wrists and arms at the hand therapy clinic where I work. I store it in the bubble wrap that it came in because I noticed it gets scratched otherwise. This works much better than the plastic one. I can actually feel the vibration through this when I assess the patient. I could not feel the vibration through the plastic one.

Lighter is more effective
For those of you complaining about the tool...do you work in healthcare? Follow research? Truth is lighter tools are ultimately more effective. If you are brushing people, breaking capillaries, you are doing tissue damage to the EXACT tissue you are treating. Red skin is great. That’s what Guasha means. 10,000yr old treatment. If you bruise clients/patients, you are helping them today and giving them the same problem again next week when it’s all adhesed again from your treatment.

At first I didn't like using this tool
At first I didn't like using this tool, but after giving it a shot it's now my first choice. I'm used to the dolphin shaped tool, but this one has changed my mind. It's light weight and ergonomic. I don't mind when the IASTM session takes a while with this tool because I have less fatigue than when I use my dolphin shaped tool.
