Colour Theory (Artists Library)

Very Useful Book for Choosing Colour Palette
Excellent little book. I took a keen interest in painting about 2 1/2 years ago. While trial and error have taught me a lot, I still found that my paintings lacked cohesion. This book has helped me understand how to use colors that are warm, cool, and complementary in combinations that work well to make a painting more overall pleasing and cohesive.

Super little book.
Super little book. I'm only part way through it, but I'm enjoying it very much. I got it, actually, for the purposes of understanding colour better in photography, but I might just pick up some brushes again in future, too. I never really did pursue the necessary grounding to paint properly. This book remedies that for me.In that the painter is, with pigment, manipulating the reflection of light from his pigment and canvas or paper, to convey how light is seen as reflected etc from his subject in its surrounding, the book is very helpful for photographers as well as painters, who should equally understand colour. In essence, the painter has to understand what the photographer should regarding light, but thereafter, instead of using exposure to manipulate light for his capture, he uses pigment.

Handy reference book
I bought this book again after losing my original.. it's a great reference book for beginners and established artists with clear pictures of colour mixing. I often use it to remind myself of colour combinations, and values.
