Melissa & Doug Modern Wooden Multi-Level Dollhouse With 19 pcs Furniture [White]

I read the reviews and hesitated only we've NEVER had a problem with Melissa and Doug toys - I thought I would need my husband to help assemble it, but I did it all by myself! (and I'm a 74 year old Great Grandmother!).... the instructions were clear and there were nice illustrations. I did use a knitting needle to align the holes for the roof since Id read others had run into problems here - and it worked like a charm (I'm not even sure I'd have needed to do that really). Our 4 yr old great grand begs to come to GiGi's house to play with this. Though we've bought additional furniture (and I've made linens and rugs), it comes with enough pieces that she could play with it as soon as it was built. I will say, I don't think it would stand up to kids climbing on it, but its sturdy enough for her to lean on it to put pieces in (the roof is installed at an angle and I don't think it would do well for much younger children) - and I've moved it both up and down stairs several times and its just as sturdy now as when I first assembled it. Great value for the money (wooden doll houses this big are usually much more $$).

I bought this dollhouse with the intent to repaint, refloor, and wallpaper it. This was the first time I have redone a dollhouse so it looked like the perfect starter. I decorated prior to assembling to make it easier to do. In the pictures the porch is missing, the package did come with it but I haven't finished it yet so don't worry about a missing piece! Assembly was very easy and didn't require any special tools. Tighten slowly to avoid stripping the screws or cracking the frame. For the dormers, tighten the screws about 98% of the way and then adjust so that the dormers aren't askew. I'm using it for my own Calico Critters collection with a mix of their furniture, 1:12 furniture/accessories, and 1:24 furniture/accessories. The furniture that came with the house are sturdy and easy to repaint. Though I don't plan to use most of it, it would be perfect for little hands as a first set. I would recommend this house for anyone looking to redo for themselves or for children.

Update: two years later and the doll house is still going strong. The balconies fall off easily and are kind of useless but the rest of it is GREAT.This is incredible value for the price: a real wood doll house, very big and sturdy. The interior is h finished wood and we are looking forward to painting it the colors of our house. My 3 year old loves it. Assembly was a little challenging and needed two people but it could be worse.

The dollhouse is perfect because it’s blank and made from wood. I am using this to make a superhero dollhouse for my son. I liked that it was mostly blank.The problem I had was that the sides came labeled per the instructions but they were physically the same part. The issue is that the channels did not align to install the front of the dollhouse. It’s not the end of the world because we have saws and the dollhouse is wood. We channeled the side ourselves, but was inconvenient.The only other issue was that 3 of the screws would not thread. We just put our own dowel pins with wood glue to hold together. Again, not a huge deal since it’s wood but not ideal.Otherwise… it’s a really nice and sturdy dollhouse. You can decorate as you want!

My granddaughter loves this house. It was very easy to assemble and great quality.

Bought this for our granddaughters. I must admit reading the reviews made me hesitant about assembling the dollhouse. I opened the box and laid out all the pieces. It went together with no problems- except those of my own making -like forgetting to put the 3rd floor front of the house on before attaching the roof. The roof really was easier having my husband help me lift it up to put in place, but other than that everything fit fine. My Only complaint is the balconies and front steps fit into holes by, what seemed to me, to be short pegs. Because I want this dollhouse around for many years, I put glue on the pegs and along the back of the balcony to help make it a bit more secure gluing it to the wood trim. The furniture that came with it are all wood and well made. Cannot wait to see the delight on their faces when they see the house. Let their imaginations soar!!

Nothing plastic would be comparable to this all-wood dollhouse. Easy directions to follow and assemble. Recommend reading all directions first before proceeding. This dollhouse came together very easily and total time to assemble was a couple hours. We put this together a couple weeks before Christmas so we wouldn't have a lot of pressure doing a rush job and making mistakes. That made it a pleasure to do. I love also the fact that my granddaughters now have a blank slate since they love to decorate!! They can paint the interior rooms, put up scrapbook paper wallpaper and adhesive felt rugs. The wood furniture this dollhouse came with is adorable, sturdy and not easily broken. It can be painted also. The fact that the staircases move is ingenious. The outside is enchanting; two upstairs balconies, hinged doors and open windows, steps leading to the front porch. So charming. Worth the money to see my granddaughters' faces light up at the sight of this on Christmas morning. We also got the M & D wooden play family with bendable bodies. Perfect.
