This is a very good product BUT…..Eight of the 12 cans in the case were crushed to the point of being square.When the case was delivered to my home there was a loud THUMP. The case was thrown on my porch. When I opened it two days later it was destroyed inside. Again it is a good product but the delivery was handled by “ Savage baggage handlers”.

I have to admit it, I am a tomato sauce snob. I have tried many types and brands in pursuit of the best, often choosing Italian varieties, San Marzano, and DOP, considered the best. With all the rave reviews, I had to try this one too. It is true. They are sweet. Most sauces, whole tomatoes, crushed, pureed, chopped, etc., need some sugar. Tomatoes like any other fruit vary in sweetness. I take no offense to adding sugar to my sauce to taste. But this one, as soon as I dipped my finger into the open can, you could tell it did NOT need any sugar. The can is labelled with all that is NOT in the sauce, it is pure tomatoes. I chose this Jersey Fresh tomatoes w/o the basil bc I like to keep my slate clean for other recipes and cuisines that use sauce but not necessarily basil. I can add my own basil. I may have been born and bred in Brooklyn NY, but I think now I'm partly "Jersey Girl." These tomatoes are the bomb. I made some cioppino tonight using this sauce with the shellfish. It was tasty and needed no fussing, just used the herbs needed for the recipe, no unnecessary doctoring up. I like the consistency of the crushed tomatoes, and it's easier and faster than whizzing them in a food processor or blender to break up whole tomatoes in a can. The color was lively and red. It is true what the reviews say, Jersey tomatoes are right up there with the best.
