Omme Kolsoum - The Classics

I purchased this after watching the documentary, "Umm Kulthum: A Voice Like Egypt" by Michal Goldman. I couldn't be more pleased with the recording. A great complement to the film and a wonderful way to hold this gifted singer in my mind.

Incredible talent. She is a gifted singer who reaches out to many cultures. This womanis a treasure . .. to listen to and read about. A worthwhile investment for all ages.

The audio quality is excellent on this CD, graphics ,are good and the selections are a fine representation of this great chanteuse's career!

one of the greatest middle eastern singers, mostly ignored by the west. a little hard to get into but when i did, really enjoyed it.

Terrible recording. I was so disappointed. Mono recording, lots' of static. I had hoped it would be a rich full sound of her famous voice, and musicians. UGH. But I liked the photo.. LOL

I love this collection of ballads by Oum Kalthoum. It reads like divine poetry sung by a muezzin. Most of these songs are lovesongs, but the lyrics are beautiful and classic, and her voice is as bright as the cardinal heart bleeding across a canopy of crystalline irises. Her voice weeps with regret and humility...like a bedouin wailing at the stars. The accompaniment accentuates her desert voice in their subtlety, a great partnership.

You need this album! If you're interested enough to check out this record on Amazon, you won't be dissapointed by this excellent collection of some of the best work done by one of the best singers ever!

Pas la moindre remasterisation. Rien. On ne devrait plus vendre de tels produits aujourd'hui. Par ailleurs la musique d'Oum Kalsoum est assez repetitive.

C'est très beau. Sa me donne la chaire de poule !! J'ai découverte cette grande artiste en écoutant Natacha atlas et parce-que mon papa en disait beaucoup de bien.

Je ne peux pas critiquer l'artiste, notamment pour ce que, j'imagine, elle a représenté à son époque, en tant que femme dans un monde et une époque d'homme. Elle a dû bouleverser les codes, et je considère qu'elle est, d'une certaine façon, notre mère à toutes !Mais je n'ai pas accroché avec l'ambiance des morceaux (qualité de l'enregistrement), ni avec le grain de sa voix. Peut-être que je n'ai pas pu me défaire de ce à quoi je m'attendais...
