Very basic. But pretty okay for beginners.

Another Simon Monk book.
Sadly I find Simon Monks books make things that should be easy somewhat hard(ish) going and are often short on some of the important points that beginners will probably need. This was, to my mind, the same case with this book as it was with his two books aimed at the Arduino platform.A lot is not covered that should be even if it meant making the book larger than it is.I would also add that I didn't find using the Beaglebone Black board anywhere near as satisfying as I do with the Arduino platforms so maybe I'm just a tad biassed.

Good book for the hobbyist
Dr. Monk writes books for the average person. What I mean by that is, his books are easy to understand and his examples are not complicated. He writes in a comfortable easy style. This book on the BeagleBone board is a good read for people in the hobby Linux community.
