What's not to like. As always with Mr skinners books they are well investigated and presented. A pleasure to work with,and use.

The best version of the Goetia available. It has so much more information than the Crowley/Mathers edition and has been written in a way that makes it easy to understand.

Whilst there are several editions of the Goetia, this is - as far as I am aware - the only copy that was actually made by a practising magician and this makes it unique and well worth a place on the bookshelf of any & all discerning Hermeticists.Dr Skinner & David Rankine have done their usual superlative job of scholarship on this one as well as all the other titles in this 'Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magick' series and whilst I don't as yet own them all I certainly intend to complete the series over the next few months.Dr Skinner's work is a 'must read' at the very least and ideally ought to be considered as 'must own' as the Western Esoteric Tradition is a huge part of our culture - whether we like to admit this or not - and there are those who would take our cultural heritage away from us & push it back into the hidden corners of obscurity because some fool felt threatened or offended by it or, even worse still, simply claimed that they were so offended the books must of course be banned immediately. My response to any & all who feel threatened by books is to get over yourselves & just don't read them.Fools notwithstanding, I say again these books are a valuable part of our cultural tradition, going back thousands of years in some cases and mere tens of centuries in others, and really must be preserved - and simple facsimile reprints are not the way to go because these will simply perpetuate the errors that crept in over the centuries of manual copyists who are not familiar with things like Hebrew Script, so you can only imagine the errors that crept in with some of the seals & illustrations.Dr Skinner has probably produced the finest version of Goetia that I currently own (and yes, I do have the Peterson one) and I recommend it to all students of the subject.

It by Stephen Skinner, what else can one say. Buy it.

Mr. Skinner and Mr. Rankine have done a fantastic job in compiling and clarifying Dr. Rudd's system for Goetic evocation. The analysis of the various Goetia lineages in the introduction is by far the best done in any work about this system. Dr. Rudd's workings are quite different from the Goetic evocation system as utilized by the Golden Dawn and it's progeny. I don't mean that statement as an insult to the Goetic workings derived from the Golden Dawn Archives. However, as one Hermetic law states "As above so below, as below so above" so with Dr. Rudd's system a person is learning and working with both the "Spirits of the Goetia" and the "Angels of the Shem ha-Mephorash". A wise man once said, "It's good to have friends in high and low places!"
