Garth NixThe Abhorsen Trilogy Box Set (Old Kingdom)

I's been searching for these ever since I read them at my primary school, but I hadn't had the opportunity to actually buy them! I chose Wordery because they offered the three main books from the series at a great price (cheaper than buying them individually) and with their own little box. They're now proudly displayed on my bookshelf!And with regards to the story (and if you've never read Garth Nix before), it's a thrilling read! I mean, it's been years since I first read them and I'm still going back for seconds. Garth Nix's style is truly great :)

Garth Nix has become one of my favourite writers. The Abhorsen trilogy is one of my all time favorite book series! I have read it 3 times now and still go back for more.

I read the first book Sabriel, then bought the digital collection and now this one, because I decided I like the seriies enough to get hard copies too. As in the title, the worldbuilding is a bit different from the imagination of other fantasy with the worldbuilding and magic systems and creatures employed.The first book Sabriel can be read as a standalone, with the other 2 books following up about 20 years later add some new characters and explain a bit how things continued in therms of legacy and somehow manage to tie it together with the characters from the first book. Overall I'd recommend the series for people who're into Fantasy and YA (due to the age range), though it doesn't focus as much on romance as typical YA. There are also 3 more books in the same universe, that are not part of this box, if someone is interested in perhaps waiting for a complete collection or getting books from the same edition.

Great series, I often find myself completely engrossed in the books and find it hard not to attempt reading through each book all in one sitting! The unique world that Garth Nix has crafted differentiates itself nicely from other fantasy realms. I only wish that I had been introduced to this series sooner!If you like the Harry Potter books, the Lord of the Rings, or really any of the popular Fantasy/Adventure series, these books are a must read.Now if only I could find myself a snarky talking Cat or a Disreputable Dog in real life!

Ich würde eher nicht über die Geschichte reden, weil es dafür schon andere Webseiten gibt (Goodreads, Wikipedia, etc). Ich würde nur sagen, dass mir diese Trilogie sehr gut gefallen hat.Ich habe hier eine Beschreibung der Bücher vermisst, daher habe ich ein paar Bilder hochgeladen, falls Ihr wie ich die Qualität des Produktes beurteilen möchtet, bevor Ihr kauft. Die Bücher sind Taschenbücher, daher klein und weich (das stört mich gar nicht, aber ich sage nur Bescheid). Die Seiten sind recycelt und die Buchstaben sind einer angenehmen Größe. Die Box, welche die Bücher enthält, sah etwas kaputt aus in den Ecken (siehe Bild), aber das ist ja nicht schlimm, insbesondere für diese Preis. Die Lieferung erfolgte schnell und reibungslos.In Kürze: ich kann Euch diese Trilogie 100% weiterempfehlen, sowohl für die Geschichte als auch für Qualität des Produktes und die Lieferung.

This is a wonderful series. I lost my originals and wanted to replace them. I seen the boxed set and checked which covers they have (It had the character drawings on them, which I adore. Not that the simplistic Free Magic symbols aren't nifty, but it's just my personal taste), and purchased. Obviously, hence the review.It's rich with a created world's history, and everything is so very easy to understand. This in no way takes away from the story but lets it fuel your imagination on the other little details.The series ties in together wonderfully. So if you read the first one and long more for the characters you might have gotten to favour, some of them are in the following books.There is a huge arcing plot that winds itself through all three books and it is stunning.If you can, pick up the book of short stories by Garth Nix - Across The Wall. It has another wonderful, and intensely thrilling short story.In all honesty, I love this series and have read it, then reread it and will continue to reread it. Just so much love for it.

After my son spent weeks successively talking about each of the books of this trilogy in turn, I decided to take a look at the first one. I could easily see why he liked them so much, and quickly found myself reading through all three books. What a fascinating world Nix creates here! I'm not sure what I can write without giving away too much. Perhaps the following might be interesting for a parent deciding whether or not to buy it: When he asked for it, I was initially a bit uncertain, since death was obviously such a major topic, and was timidly posing myself the age-old parental question: Is this good for my child or not. This one is. (Or rather, these three are.) If anyone is still worried, the good guys in the story are among and on the side of the living. It's great fantasy.

It came in perfect, a little bit smaller than expected but still beautiful.I can't wait to re-read the series.

Delivered fast and with a cover box so it looks neat and organized. I will enjoy re-reading this series ^^
