Will take this on every camping trip!
I love camping but I have a back problem and sleeping on a sleeping bag in a tent really hurts. An air mattress would be too large and cumbersome for tent camping so I decided to try this foam mattress. It made a huge difference! I was able to function normally on my camping trip rather than being is significant back pain. It fits inside of my Mountain Hardwear Drifter 2 perfectly and provides enough cushion that two slim people would not feel the ground. This product is a foam pad that can be compressed and rolled up. I was never able to get it back into the original bag but it comes with two elastic bangs to keep it together so you don't need the bag. When you unroll it, open the valves to let in air then close the valves and lock some air inside to create a little extra cushion. This mattress is not made of memory foam and I think describing it as "self-inflating" makes some readers think it will be like an air mattress but it's a soft foam sleeping pad that holds some air so adjust your expectations accordingly.I love this mattress and it really makes camping possible. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because you have to wrestle with it a bit to roll it up.

Buy Thicker IF you Buy - Valves are Flimsy
First, the obvious: the product is large and bulky, so this is NOT for the trail. There are two valves for inflating and deflating. To inflate, you open both valves and open the mat flat; if operating correctly, it will self-inflate mostly due to the open-cell foam inside. If you were to just seal the valves at that point, it will bottom out, so you need to close one valve and then blow additional air into the other valve. If you've never done this with this kind of pad before, you need to close the valve partway - takes some finesse to figure out, blow in, quickly cover the valve with your tongue, inhale, remove tongue, repeat.Important to consider: this model (1.2 inch thickness) is entirely too thin. Your bones will bottom out. Definitely get the 2-inch.My issue with this product is quality. All of these types of inflatables tend to fail where the fabric is glued to the hard plastic valves. Mine failed here after only about 6 uses. I tried in vain to glue and reseal it, but to no avail. It's well over 1 year since purchased so I paid $90 for 6 uses which is unacceptable quality in my opinion. I take excellent care of my gear. I will be trying to to reach the manufacturer but don't expect to see any type of refund.

Like some of the other reviewers said
Like some of the other reviewers said, it does not automatically self inflate. We had to start it by blowing into the valve, then we easily got it inflated. It did the trick in our camper and made my sleep a little better under my not-so-soft camper pad. It is easy to store, and for that reason and the fact that it really does help, I would recommend it. I probably would not be satisfied if this were my only sleeping pad, but as an added pad, it is good.

Open well before bedtime.
I wish I would have read the directions before our trip. We didn't open it up until right before bed. It did not fill up quickly. It takes some time to expand and get comfortable. We ended up using a pump to add air to it for immediate comfort. Now we know for next time. Very comfortable to sleep on.

Very disappointed with this product for the price
Very disappointed with this product for the price. It is basically a piece of thin foam covered with plastic. It states that it "self inflates", which I don't see. I bought it for my Grandchildrens' sleepovers, after many popped air mattresses. They complained that it is "Just like sleeping on the floor!" Does not roll up and store and WOULD NOT go back into the bag that came with it!! Would not recommend

Do not waste your money!! Not self-inflating at all!! Got serious back pain!!
I wish I could give 0 star. My girlfriend and I were so happy about the camping until we slept on this piece of sxxx!! It's NOT self-inflating AT ALL after I unscrewed both valves. I could barely hear any air intake sound! Therefore my girlfriend and I had to try to blow it using mouth but we gave up after 5 mins trial. Then the whole long night we felt we were sleeping on the hard rock surface and both of us got serious back pain...... It totally ruined our camping trip and really pissed me off!!! Save you money and keep away from this junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't really inflate to 1. 5", even ...
It doesn't really inflate to 1.5", even blowing into the valve. I rated it 3 because I folded it in half and it was comfy that way and it did keep the ground cold from seeping through.

Comfy
Used this on a 3 week cross country road trip. It is definitely more comfortable than large inflated matresses, in large part due to the padding within the mattress itself. It is also ver durable. It is easy to blow up but it was difficult to roll up with just one person. Luckily they give you bungees and a bag to carry it in.
