Heavy is the word
The best string for metal,it won't sound flappy, its tight, even though if its minimised for d tuning, for me this is the best gauge for c standard tuning.

Would work best on multi-scale guitars with the 8th going all the way to 29 inches in scale I presume
Purchased this only so I could replace the factory-fitted .065 8th string on my Ibanez RG8 with the next thickest size. (Yes, I bought the whole set just for that one string) The 8th is tighter now but still pretty slack for the 27" scale, it slaps against the frets when I pick with moderate attack because of the lack of sufficient tension (much less slap than with the 65, but... ). I have my strings tuned half step down.I might have to use a .080-0.85 3rd bass string for that 8th soon, in fact, for single scaled 8 stringers like my RG8, I will have to use multiple sets for best tension across the all other strings: .008—038 for 1—6 because the stock 9—42s are a little too tight for the baritone scale, .080 or .085 3rd string from a bass set for the 8th, and .054 for the 7th string from a regular set because the 7th from the 9-65 set is the only one that seems OK.Apologies for the verbal diarrhea.
