SQL Visual Quick Start 3rd Edition
The SQL Visual Quick Start 3rd Edition is written with the respect of the reader time. Concise with good examples, very synthetic providing comparison between 4 SQL Data bases features and limitations, clear and well structured. This is an example on very good book written by a professional. Each word is measured, keeping the reader focused. It asks talent as is not easy to provide a complete reference on this subject, but the book is an example on how a complex subject can be kept simple. I will recommend to all reader(s) who want to review quickly and learn fast. Thank you Chris.Alexandre Oana, ing. Ph.D

SQL Visual QuickStart guide
Liked that test scenarios were available to try but it seemed like they were available through the class taken at the university. If that's the case, the test scenarios should be available to users also buying the book to teach themselves SQL and not just university or continuing ED students.

Kindle Version Is so versatile!
I have had the print version of this book for years. Because I travel for my work, I felt a copy on my Kindle would be a nice addition. Having a Kindle reader on my work laptop and be able to be in the middle of typing a query and check my sytax is fabulous! This is a great book for beginners or anyone that needs a clear, easy to understand reference.

Very, very basic
The book is well written, but is way too basic for a serious programmer. The section titled "Audience" in the introductions says this book will be appropriate for you if:* "Lack programming experience but are familiar with computers."...* "Are otherwise uninterested in databases but must process large amounts of structured data due to the nature of your work."...

Its a good brief start but not a substitute for an actual course
Overall this was a good book. It gave a decent introduction to SQL but its far from being a substitute for a course on SQL or actual hands on experience. I would recommend this book as a supplement or if you want to get a flavour for SQL before you decide to take a course. If you do buy this book, install a copy of an SQL database and make sure that you practice what you learn.

Well-written, a bit short
It really is just a quickstart guide. It introduces you to SQL in a breezy, easy to follow format. It covers the major SQL databases. In the end, I was left needing a more intermediate to advanced text for my course. This is basically SQL for dummies, but not as verbose.

A seriously good series of books.
I am working my way through the Quick Start series. Enough said. Oh and yes I am dyslexic. Cool yeah?
