Poor design, quality control, packing, customer service.
Boy, am I sorry I bought this thing.Packing: The tiller arrived in boxes whose gaps between the panels on top are large. Unfortunately, the packaging (baggie) that contained the bolts and other small items was in no way secured and flew around in the box during transit, ripping it open and causing all these small items to then fly around the box and come through the gaps in the boxes. So, my unit was incomplete and the project I was hoping to finish that weekend was delayed 2 weeks due to having to order these parts via customer service.Customer Service: The Canadian woman I spoke to was uninformed, rude, and kept asking me to provide information not specified in the manual, specifically the type of bolts that were missing. The assembly instructions do not differentiate between the bolts required to assemble the tiller (there are 2 styles) so I finally had to simply ask her to ship me a set as I didn't know which ones I needed (the two I had were identical, so I didn't know there was a second style and neither did she until she finally asked another employee). Annoying as all heck. Powerworks/Greenworks, you need to train your employees or at least give them the information they need to provide your customers with accurate, quick service. And this woman is not customer service material.Quality Control: My tiller's bail arm doesn't work (I tried it every which way, every sequence with the power switch -- nope). Thus, the only way I can get it to shut down is to pop the battery. This not only reduces a major portion of the control I have over it, it's dangerous as I am leaning over and reaching into a device with moving steel tines.Design: The tiller only operates at one speed, fast. Depending upon the soil and other conditions you're working in (taller weeds, uneven soil, inconsistent density, etc.), this means you have to press the tiller downward and pull it toward you to get the tines into the soil surface. While this works, it's an odd design and entirely counter-intuitive. Every other tiller I've ever used has you walking behind it as it moves forward, loosening and chewing up the soil under its tines. This Powerworks tiller makes you pull toward you, then you move forward over the tilled soil (which is now uneven) and pull another section. Were the tiller able to be operated at a much slower speed, I could walk behind it normally. Strange design, makes tilling more work than necessary, and inefficient battery use.The only reason I bought this unit is because I already have a Powerworks chainsaw and leaf blower and a 5.0 battery and charger. I strongly recommend avoiding this tiller; I will likely be migrating to a different brand based upon this experience.

Ok product, poor customer service
Had an issue with my product and emailed and called with no response. Product works ok, but skips around a bit as others have said. Seems to need more weight up front or to have the tines further back to get more leverage.

Shafted.
Tines rotated on shaft and wouldn't go in a straight line.

Enough power but no front weight
I’m not sure why, but whenever I make a switch from a gas-powered tool to an electric tool, I expect the electric one to have less power. Most of the time, I am proven wrong and the Powerworks Brushless Tiller is no exception. It definitely did not lack the power to cut through my dry garden area and even sliced through a few thinner roots. Assembly is quick and easy. The battery took 2 hours to charge. I used the tiller for a good 35 minutes and the battery indicator showed roughly half of the charge left. There are a few things that I’m still trying to get used to. First is that there is no speed control of either the wheels (which are freewheeling) or the tines. It’s either on or not. With the gas tiller I had used previously, you could go slower if needed or speed it up. Again, not necessarily a complaint, just something I’m getting used to.Second, because the tiller is so lightweight and the tines are on the front of the machine, it very easily skips across the top of the dirt instead of having some weight to allow it to dig into the ground. The handle isn’t positioned to allow leverage on the front, but rather on the back – which doesn’t help the tines dig in. Because of having to lift up on the handle, I felt like I was carrying the tiller along more than I felt should have been necessary. These two things aside, I am mostly happy with the tiller’s performance and my wife is happy to have her garden ready for planting once more.

Works well but simple
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Over the years I've gotten rid of most of our gas tools except for a power washer and leaf blower - really need the power that electric or battery don't give you. I had a huge gas tiller but after a few years I really wasn't using it so got an electric but you have to dig out the cord and you were limit limited to it's length. Now I have this thing and I'm free to till anywhere! There isn't much to this. What you are really paying for is the battery. The engine has enough power and the tines are strong and the handle is metal but the rest of it is plastic.I included a video, it works great. In fact, you can hear that it doesn't stop for rocks it keeps going. I haven't ran it down put after about five minutes or so it has used one light out of four on the battery indicator. I was running the tiller with one hand and camera in the other, it is easy to handle. There are a few things I don't care about this.My biggest complaint is the handle. Like my mower you have to unscrew a bolt (with a star handle) to break down the handle to store this. I wish someone would come out with a tool that has a simple quick release. I will give them credit, however, for creating a two thread system where you can unscrew the bolt but not all the way where it falls out like my mower does. If you don't tighten it all the way you won't lose it should it become loose while using it.The wheels and guard are all plastic which work but how long will they last?Instead of a pin to adjust the wheel height you have to unscrew the star handled bolt. Takes too much time especially trying to line it up to get it back in.But overall, I like this. It's cord free and has some power. It has a few issues but it is great for when you need to do a little weeding or work a new spot to grow something.
