Can this board get wet in order to stretch watercolor paper?

It is not like a wood table. More like a clipboard. With a lot of water it might begin to break down under the surface. Or, at best, develop a rough surface. It's a hard surface, but not a sheet of cut wood. Poss. particle board under the surface? It's smooth, as if there's some kind of finish on the surface to protect it. I think it would do fine with damp canvases that dry fast, if they don't leak drippy water for ~30 min.l

Are these really almost an inch thick??

No. Just over 1/10 of an inch. A little bit on the flimsy side but OK.

Would this board be good for use with watercolor paper?

Yes. This board is primarily for securing your paper to a steady surface while you work. I use mine for watercolor sketches.

What's of the measurements of the clips are on the clipboard?

The clips are 4 3/8 wide and separated by 5.5 inches.
