Willow bark cream states is unscented, can you smell the methol?

Yes. You can smell the menthol and the other essential oils: camphor, lavender, geranium, eucalyptus. It is more subtle than other topical creams but it does have a mild smell.

Does this product have a safety seal?

It does not have a safety seal. It is a regular flip top.

Does this product have a cooling effect or a warming one? I have read it does both. So which one is it?

In my experience, there is an initial cooling sensation on the skin for the first couple minutes. Afterward the larger area (muscles/joints) starts to warm up (not just the skin). I would say that it's cooling/warming affect is gentler than other products with higher concentrations of menthol, but works better in my experience.
