Q: I need to cut the inside of a hot tub's plastic shell which is on a curve; will this saw cut it so I can remove the top of the shell?

It may or may not depending on the radius of the inside curves of your hot tub. The straight saw table may not allow the blade to reach the shell material if the radius is too tight.

Q: Is this a good option for cutting a cat door into a solid wood frame about 2 inches thick?

The blade is just 3-3/8 in diameter or 1-11/16” in radius and it has to leave space for the spindle that turns it. It’s limit is just over 1”. If you could flip the door over and cut along the exact same line you could use it to cut a cat door opening, but it’s very unlikely to turn out well and you’ll always have to finish the corners with a straight bladed saw. Since the length of each cut is long enough for a 7-1/2” saw, the conventional answer would be to pull the hinge pins, put the door on saw horses, make a pocket cut with a normal size circular saw with a fine tooth blade (not the one rip blade it came with), and finish cutting the unreachable part of the corners with a jig saw. It’s possible to cut the opening any number of other ways, but it’s more useful to know that the core of almost any modern smooth faced exterior door will be wood particles glued together, while an interior door may be hollow or corrugated paperboard. A cat door opening cut in this type of door needs to be sealed against moisture before being framed with trim. If it isn’t, water will swell the core of the door and it will puff up like popcorn and pop off it’s thin face sheet.
