Has anyone ever compared these to the eargasm ear plugs?

Do they muffle sound?

No they don't muffle sound.  You can hear all of the notes and sounds very clearly, but the overall decibels are reduced.  These are appropriate for musicians and fans of music.  I attend quite a few multiple day festivals and I don't like having any reduction in my ability to hear because of loud concerts (though I love loud music).  These allow me to be right up front and to go to concerts for several days in a row without having ringing in my hears afterwards.   With musicians ear plugs, I can still hear all of the music clearly and it's plenty loud still, but my ears don't hurt afterwards.  They are absolutely worth having.  And they aren't like the cheap foam earplugs that are designed to protect hearing from loud industrial noises.

Though I think the first 2 answers are funny and accurate.. Try this.. put them in and if it muffles your voice pull them out a bit until it is clear and lowers the volume.

Is it good for sleeping?

I'm going to disagree with the previous answer. Just because they're designed to have a more even reduction across the spectrum doesn't make them bad for sleeping. In fact, I prefer them over the typical foam earplugs commonly used for sleeping. For one, they're more comfortable. Also, if I've put them in getting ready to sleep, but my partner wants to say something to me, I don't need to take them out just to hear a sentence or two.

If you are getting earplugs for music, movies, etc. where you want the more even reduction across frequencies, there's no need to buy another set just for sleeping. And if you want earplugs for sleeping, I'd still recommend these, or a similar pair anyways. Then you'll also be able to use them when you go out, which you might not realize how much you'll appreciate and how beneficial it is for your hearing until you try it.

No need to waste money getting earplugs specifically for sleeping, these work just fine for it unless you've got extreme demands for your noise blocking.
