Installed 9260 now I don't have wifi just bluetooth!?!? why  I don't want the whole proset bloatware suite!

I have the same product on my alienware and got a similar action initially. Turns out i had my antennas mixed. Also the system used its generic drivers, did not need to download the intel bloatware. Hope this helps.

I ordered and installed this Intel 9260 vPRO on my Lenovo Yoga 920, I downloaded the driver packages from Intel both for Wi-Fi and Blue Tooth,  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/99445/Intel-Wireless-AC-9260

it works fine, much faster than the original Qualcomm Atheros. Before swapping the card download the intel driver packages so you can install them after you swap out the card.
On device manager you can uninstall the Qualcomm Atheros wi-fi and BT then shutdown and swap the card out. 
Make sure you plug back in both antenna's wires tiny connectors, you may need a magnifying glass to see better.
Power up and run the 2 Intel  .exe files to install the drivers for Wi-Fi and BT. You will need to couple your Lenovo Pen to the new Blue Tooth. If you use Wireless displays you may need to remove them on the device list and add them back, authorize the connection on your wireless display.

if the pc will always be near the wifi router but a hardwired connection isnt an option, are attenna required or can it just be plugged in?

You need the antenna if you're going to use the Bluetooth at all. One of the #1 issues I get with new PC owners with built in WIFI/BT like this is they don't connect the antenna then don't understand why their Bluetooth doesn't work. "Screw in the antenna" "I'm not using WIFI though" "Screw in the antenna, the Bluetooth also uses it" "But I'm sitting right next to it" "Doesn't matter, screw in the antenna." *5 minutes later* "Wow Bluetooth works great now!" "Yup."
