Jewelry Made with Wire & Fiber

I wanted this book for a long time, as the designs looked colorful, innovative, and fun. I rated the book based on quality of the instruction, the presentation/layout of the book, and the quality of the products. My only concern is that, evidently I waited too long, because the main material used, the fiber cord, does not appear to be available anymore. The resources listed in the book don’t carry it, and a Google search didn’t turn anything up, either. If you are planning to buy the book, I would suggest securing a source for this material first. If you have any luck, please share what you find out! In fairness, the designs could inspire riffs into other craft applications. That’s why I still gave the book high marks, and didn’t mark down for this difficulty- not the author’s fault.Update: I contacted the author’s business, and heard back the very next day. He suggested an Etsy shop, “LRP Jewelry Box, for the cord. They call it “Tribal/Ethnic Stitched Fabric Cord,” and it is gorgeous! I’m going to order a bunch. Thank you, Nealay!

I had some woven bracelets in my inventory that hadn't really been noticed until I dressed them up as described in this book! Great ideas! Really gave me some inspiration! Easy to follow directions!

Innovative, well designed, projects easily made even tho they look complicated. Supplies easily obtained. A must have for my jewelry reference library.

You will immediately fall in love with the colors and intricate designs! However, do not let the end result intimidate you. Nealay’s step-by-step instructions (including an introduction section focused specifically on technique) make these pieces feasible to create at any level – beginner or advanced. The description “Learn beginner-level projects with advanced styles for the bold and daring” could not be more accurate.As a millennial who is new to jewelry-making -- I often find that the “how to” books available in my local craft store are uninspiring and dated. Nealay’s designs are young, fresh and inspiring. The finished jewelry looks like something you’d buy in a trendy boutique – not something you made from a “how to” book.As a beginner jewelry-maker my first real piece was created using a Nealay design and how-to. It has since given me the confidence and inspiration I need to continue owning my creativity. Thank you Nealay for continuing to inspire us and share your gift!

There are so many things to like about Nealay's design aesthetic and his work, and I particularly like how he has brought wire, fiber, and beads together into gorgeous new projects in this book! If you've been beading for any length of time, you probably already have most of the tools and materials needed to work through these projects. But here's the best part: although these projects are all very easy to make, they are BIG on style! You might need to add a mandrel or a jig to your tool kit, and perhaps you'll need to find some of the flat and round fiber cords that Nealay uses, but resources are listed, so don't worry. Great book for both beginners and for those who are looking to try something new.

Nealay Patel has done it again! His unique and creative approach to using fiber and wire is so much fun. I can't wait to try some of these techniques out. Wire work is not my usual jewelry making method, but I am willing to learn these exciting uses for fiber and wire together. I have both of his previous books and this one doesn't disappoint. If you love making jewelry and like trying new ideas, this is the book,and artist to follow.

Nealay Patel is a jewelry-making genius. He is a meticulous designer and author. In this book, he offers step-by-step photos to make 15 gorgeous designs. Every design is extremely unique and marries two unusual materials: wire + fiber cord. Pick up this book and get inspired. You'll love it too!

Nealay is so inspiring for a novice all the way to a seasoned jewelry artist. I love this book so much. He inspires me to be creative, like him. I would definitely recommend this and his other books.
