Speedy Sharp

This item not only sharpens, but you can take it places where a knife isn’t allowed and it can cut stuff open. I have given these to all the men in my family and they all love them.

Made well, works well. I purchased this item as a firesteel striker and for that it works well. It scraped a large amount of material with the normal force used with most strikers, almost too much. Lighter pressure, less force is needed along with a decently long handle makes it an excellent tool for this purpose. The intent was to find a tool that would aid in times of weaker hand strength and coordination (cold, injury) and this is one that I would trust for such a time and purpose. This aggressiveness also makes it capable of quickly removing metal from a cutting edge, which is not necessarily a good thing. I used a cheap machete with a hollow ground bevel that is prone to chipping and rolling (something acquired from that Freight company down by the Harbor) as a crash test dummy. Material was removed similarly to what is removed with the common V-shaped pull through devices. With a reverse stroke,the tool can be used to hone where a pull through device cannot. I also squared off the spine of a carbon steel Morakniv and a stainless Cold Steel Pendlenton Hunter Lite, quickly these were able to throw sparks off of a ferro rod. I did not try any other steels than 1075, 1095, 4116 Krupps, and whatever is in that cheap machete. Whenever (if ever) I use this on D2 or 3V, I will update this review. I would not normally choose this as method to sharpen, but if desperate I would be glad I had the option.

I got one of these (still have) it'about 15years ago.Since then, I enjoy the reliability, and simple way to put a sharp edge on any blade, from a sword to scissors!Absolutely worth the investment, and a great gift or item to buy for one that does not have one, or (never heard of it). It will take a very short amount of time to sharpen up your dull or dulling pocket-knife to kitchen cutlery! Highly recommended' ......that's for sure.

These pocket sized sharpeners are great!!! I work in electrical construction and am hard on my knifes daily. I have purchased a few of these over the years Mostly because I misplace them, but I am quick to replace because it is such a handy tool. It is perfect for daily sharpening to put a quick edge on a knife. It’s even able to sharpen knives that are completely dull. It works best for maintenance more than saving knives that are completely beat up but will still fix any knife thrown at it just a little more time is required...the speedy sharp will keep your knife razor sharp if you keep up with it. I even run the speedy across brand new knives I have ordered to get them even sharper than hey are out of the box

These were so easy to use and they work so well. Make lower quality steel blades really sharp and high quality steel is off the charts. Must have for your backpack and garage. Get three or four, you will use them.

Just bought this sharpener recently. I'v sharpened my loppers, pruners, and my son's pocket knife. They have never been sharper! It works just like they say in the video, very easy. Best eleven bucks I've ever spent!
