Pat LaFrieda Signature Choice Beef Filet Mignon Center Cut, 6 Ounce

This was the best Filet steak I have had in a very long time, so good that I got another in a subsequent grocery order. I rarely eat red meat, not really a fan but do like a good steak from time to time. And this Filet was THE one that could make me a fan. The steak was trimmed of all fat, had no marbling to speak of yet was melt-in-your mouth tender. It was quite thick so I “butterflied” it, lightly salt & peppered and seared it in a cast iron pan to medium rare. A baked potato, small salad and a good red wine completed the meal. I read some other comments not at all favorable, but I can’t say enough good things about my experience.

Make a simple garlic butter filet mignon with potatoes. Since this was my first time trying it I thought the price was perfect and the size is perfect for one person. We have been buying these for quite a while. Never disappointed. Good cut of meat, great taste, perfect size and good price.

Even though it's only a 6 oz. portion, it satisfied me. There's virtually no fat, so it doesn't shrink down and there's no waste. I rinsed the filet under cold water, patted it dry and put some steak seasoning on it. Cooked it on my GF grill to an inside temp of 145 degrees (medium). Tasty, moist and tender!

Food is expensive but sometimes you just have to spend a buck

I recently ordered four of these, expecting the usual high quality of Pat LaFrieda filet mignon. They arrived oddly cut, not the usual thick cylindrical medallions, and the quality of the meat was... Well... Mediocre. Not particularly well-trimmed or well-cut, and this was clearly not a high grade steer. Don't get me wrong, it's acceptable quality for grocery store steak, but just didn't live up to Pat LaFrieda standards. Acceptable but nothing to write home about. Not worth the price of filet mignon.

I was beyond skeptical with ordering such a delicate piece of meat from Amazon, but I can say with complete certainty that this is the best piece of meat/steak I've ever had in my life! We eat plenty of mean but my husband and I are definitely not steak-eaters (mainly because we hate the chewy fat), so it should also come as no surprise that we have no clue how to cook it. I followed a pinterest recipe (soft of) the first time and it was amazing. We have grilled it, pandered and oven cooked it and tried a million different seasoning combos, and honest to goodness, it has come out perfectly EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! EEEEVVVEN when I accidentally overcooked it once! I'm amazing and will buy it every single chance I get. We always bring out the steak knives but have never needed them. They are so tender. Just buy it once and try it. You'll never look back.
