Necessity for an amputee.
These cutters are not cheap. It would be nice if they were made out of durable material rather than the hard plastic they are made from. One drop on a hard tile floor caused my old unit to break necessitating a replacement. The cost is expensive but the company bows it’s a niche market and a necessity for amputees. Great way to make a buck. Sell something that must cost less than $4.00 to make for over $20 to people that need it. O well. Just be careful with it..it’s brittle and can break upon dropping on a hard floor.

Good idea, cheaply made
As someone who only has use of my right hand this product seemed awesome for me. It could be awesome, if someone didn't skimp on the quality. The black part is all plastic and quite bendable which makes it a challenge to push down to close the clipper. The clipper has no curve to it and is very dull, causing(at least for me)my nails to chip and cut very unevenly. If someone took the effort to make this product the right way it would be a superb idea for all of us with use of one hand.

Highly recommended for those with use of only one hand
I bought this for a friend who suffered a stroke and lost most use of his left arm. While he was able to clip the nails on that hand using his good right hand, he'd have to pay a manicurist to clip his right hand fingernails, being too proud to ask any friend to do it. This item worked wonders! Simply slide your fingernail in and push down with the palm of your hand (works on toes, too) and it snips the nail. He told me care does have to be taken in positioning so as not to clip too deep. It's a simple, clever, well-made device, and perfect for anyone with limited or no use of one hand. Highly recommended.

Here’s How to Improve It !
Please look at my photos. I am a total left arm & shoulder amputee. I found the clippers useful, but nothing is provided to file your nails after clipping or to just clean your nails. You can see my hacker improvements in photos but I also describe them here:1) Find a good old metal emery board laying in your bathroom drawers somewhere … and in my case, just break off its plastic handle and then epoxy the emery board onto the nice accommodating recess as shown.2) Find an old regular nail clipper laying around and break it loose from the light duty rivet typically holding it onto the clippers. It should then also have a convenient hole in it whereby you should then drill a same size hole on the front edge of the clipper plastic and use a small bolt to secure it in place. Now this may sound difficult, but any slightly handy person can do it. I managed to do it all myself one handed, so how hard can it be?Your clippers will now be twice as useful as when you received them. Why the manufacturer hasn’t already done these small additional, cost but value added enhancements, we can only wonder at.Hope this helps others.

Great! Easy to use, makes clean, soft cuts.
Boyfriend only has manual dexterity in one hand but not the other. Got this as a gift for him and he was very excited and immediately started using it. He loves it. I like it too -- I find it makes a cleaner, smoother round cut on my nails than when I do a free-hand cut. I don't have any mobility or dexterity limitations myself, but freehanding anything just isn't going to give you the stability that this thing does. I totally recommend it for anyone with a dexterity limitation, or even just someone who doesn't trust their freehanding skills.
