Character Builders - DVD Set

First, the lessons taught in this series is something that, lets face it, the entire world needs to hear. I love the message, however, the charachters are cute, but the voices could be better, more accurate, instead of sounding like one person just adjusting his voice for different charachters. I do wish the episodes were a bit longer, on this dvd, it's about 15 mins of obedience cartoon and another 15 of self control. It would've been nice for them to show multiple instances of disobedience/lack of self control instead of just 1 main one and a side one. But, those little issues aside, it's much better than letting your kids watch these awful cartoons that actually teach disobedience & lack of self control, among other bad tendencies. My 3 year old and 1 year old seem into watching these dvd's and that's what counts! The songs are catchy and keep their attention, just wish the actual charachters did their voices, instead of sounding like major voiceovers.

I had the book-on-tape version of these Character Builder stories when I was a kid and have been looking for them for my own kids. These are the same words and songs as the original version, just an animated version. The quality of the animation isn't the best, but my two preschoolers enjoy the DVDs regardless. They are great conversation-starters and my kids seem to be picking up on each of the different character qualities and why they are important. My biggest frustration is the format. There are two episodes on each DVD, but each episode is only about 15 minutes long. Also, you can only choose to play one episode at a time. I generally use TV time when I need an uninterrupted moment to get something done, but it makes it difficult when my kids need me to start a new DVD or episode every 15 minutes!

I purchased this DVD set for our children's church. I watched it and it seemed a little cheesy, but my 3 year old son LOVED it. The children in class loved it as well. Each episode is only 10 to 12 minutes long it includes a little story about a fruit of the spirit and has a song to go along with it. I will say the songs are not easy to teach the kids but they are entertaining and filled with good messages. There are 16 episodes so obviously not every one is about a fruit of the spirit, but it is about building good character. The children in the class love this series and retain most if not all of the lessons being presented. I would highly recommend this for church or home.

I liked the original cassettes and found out these were the replacement. I must say I love them. They have changed some of the song wording from the tapes but all the narration is the same as far as I can tell. The animation is at times a little off (mouths and words, etc) and is relatively low-tech, but my boys (2 and 4) who are very active love, love, love them, and want to watch them over and over. It's so awesome to have them love something which so pointedly and clearly teaches good character. Totally worth the money. I hope I can save up enough to buy some of the other Agapeland products.

It's true these are not top notch in production. It really is just as if an older man were reading a story to his grandchild. But that's part of the fun of it. It's not so over stimulating and crazy. It's simple but keeps my kids attention and they LOVE them all! I love that they are exactly as I remembered and are putting into my children's spirit the Character qualities I am currently teaching them on a daily basis. The songs are easy to learn and the meaning of each lesson is easy for toddlers to understand.

These stories have really helped my my 4 year old understand the concepts of truthfulness, gentleness, obedience, self-control etc. There are catchy songs that I get her to sing to remember that she needs to show a little more "fruit of the spirit". My little 2 year old is also beginning to sing these songs. Each episode is short but the concepts are clearly demonstrated and the stories are good. After the girls watched the gentleness episode, my four year old told me that she thinks her little sister had better watch that dvd a few more times to learn how to be gentle and stop hitting!

These are very cute. My kids actually use the lessons they learn while they are playing. They are very short stories and there are 2 per dvd. Its inconvenient that in between videos you need to go back to menu and choose other video. its a little confusing how it is set up, but overall, they are great teachings. I would recommend them to a friend.

Very simple cartoons, that get the message across. My 2.5 year old enjoys watching this. The character voices are spoken by one person with varying pitches, almost like someone reading a story - this does not bother my daughter, so it does not bother me.

Bit naff to me but my kids (6 and 4) love them and that's all I care 😊 anything that will teach them good character is a plus to me! The DVDs all play with no problems.
