This is the only electric dog door that works reliably, and permits only your assigned pets through! We tried the Hi-Tech version, but it could not withstand the cold of the Maryland winters and stuck open, or closed. I am pretty paranoid about the dogs getting trapped in the house if there is a fire, so a stuck closed door doesn't work for us. Living in an area with bears, cats, mountain lions, and snakes, a door stuck open definitely doesn't do the trick. The other bonus, this door comes with its own surge protector, which the other electric doors do not, and is the only one with door tags that don't require changing out batteries, and a near indestructible door tag for the animals! We easily spent in the thousands to replace destroyed tags from the dogs chewing and grabbing on to each other, and replacing batteries. The price for this is well worth it.

The price is ridiculous when there are so many other reasonably priced doors.
