Best Finch Feeder Ever! No doves!
Want to feed finches but not doves and pigeons? Then the Droll Yankees Onyx Finch Magnet is the feeder for you! The lack of perches means large hog birds can't eat from this feeder, leaving the finches to eat in peace. I have seen 11 birds at once on my 18 inch model. I have tried 3 different mixes in it. Regular nyjer, wild delight special finch and kaytee ultra finch. All work great. The build quality is excellent, no flex in the rock solid metal tube. My favorite feature though is the ease of cleaning. I usually clean the feeder every time it's empty. Or once every 5 days to a week. I am able to clean and dry the feeder in less than 10 minutes because it's mesh. I use disinfectant and a soft wool car rim brush to remove loose seed and droppings from the feeder. Then dry it with a leaf blower and microfiber cloth. It's very reasonably priced for the quality, made in USA too! I have two of them now because I liked the first one so much. Overall best Finch Feeder available.

Great bird feeder, reliable, easy to refill, kids love it
Not much to say about this other than it's a great bird feeder. We have had it in our back yard, hung on a shephard's hook for a few months now. It's easy to refill (my young kids and I refill it ever few days) and the birds seem to love it.In our area, we have male and female cardinals quite a bit, and a variety of other birds as well. I've actually downloaded an app to identify birds called "The Cornell Lab Merlin" app. It's great...you can give some descriptions of the birds you see, it'll help you narrow them down, and then you can log which birds you've seen in the app, where, and when. I'm sure they use it for research of some kind, but for users it's a useful app and it wouldn't' be possible without a quality bird feeder drawing in the birds. It took several days, and some bird seed spread throughout the yard, to get the birds to come, but now that they're here, we have definite repeat customers. If you're in doubt of what kind of bird feeder to get, and this seems to be one you'd enjoy, buy it without a second thought. It's great. I got bird seed at Costco to fill it, which should last me several months.

Bear proof!
I thought I was being ridiculous spending so much money on a feeder....but a bear came by recently and got into my feeders. The other brands were destroyed. This feeder survived!! There was damage to the button you use to open the feeder and nothing else - AND the customer service was FANTASTIC. I emailed the company and with no hassle they send me a replacement top at no cost to me. It is well designed, cleans easily and opens with a snap. It was worth the money.

Please see update .... (Fixed)THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR OWN PRODUCT.
<<EDIT>>For some reason (maybe my rant) they reached out and sent me the replacement part at no charge. Thank you very much. I touched on the quality of the engineering below, but it is actually amazing. It's a simple object, but every detail is top notch and an engineer's delight. I hope their customer service can keep up with the design team. BOTTOM LINE: I'd buy another one, it's so nice, but I'd also pray that I did not have to deal with "Customer Service" again.THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR OWN PRODUCT. This is a nice little piece of engineering and the birds like it. HOWEVER, a little perch broke on one of my two Onyx feeders and when I tried to get a replacement part, which I'd be happy to buy, I had an UNACCEPTABLE response. First I filled out a form on their website and never heard back. Then I called during business hours and was pleasantly and politely told that I was on my own. I was told to find some vendor who would order the part for me. Really? I bought it here on Amazon, I thought from them. Personally I find it offensive when I buy an expensive, top-tier product and the company stiffs me.

Droll Yankee feeders are the best....
As always, Droll Yankee makes the best feeders around. This is easy to hang, easy to fill, and the birds like the perches. And yes, it's easy to clean too. The feeder is highly durable, as squirrels have knocked mine to the ground a few times, (my fault for not attaching it more securely to the branch) and nothing broke. Droll Yankee does not list this feeder as squirrel proof, although squirrels haven't been able to bite through any part of it. With that said, I purchased the squirrel guard and it DOES keep the squirrels from getting to the feeder from the branch above. Since I have only one usable branch that I can hang it on and still reach it, unfortunately, the squirrels are able to jump from the tree trunk, or from the ground, and then they hang or hug the feeder and still steal the seed! I also got the Clever Clean Seed Tray, hoping that might deter them somehow, but nope! I had no idea that squirrels could jump from such awkward places, but they can. Just putting that out there. In any case, Droll Yankee makes wonderful feeders and they last for years. Thanks!

Excellent Feeder
Quality construction. It's very easy to clean and it allows lots of finches to feed at the feeder at one time

Arrived broken
It was packed in a big box. No padding. Top won’t close. Big disappointment.

Easy to fill
Easy to fill, easy to clean, holds enough at one time to not be annoyinga as far as having to fill it all the time. Enough perches, birds do learn to share quickly.
