Thumbs Up from a Confessed Marmaholic
Ok, first a confession. I am a marmaholic I have a bagel or English muffin with orange marmalade almost every morning. And have for as long as I can rememberMost "American" orange marmalades are all wrong. They use sweet oranges and taste like jellified orange juice. Uh . . . no. A proper orange marmalade is made from bitter oranges - particularly Seville oranges. And preferably it includes chopped pieces of the orange peel. Good marmalades are typically distinguished by the volume and size of these pieces: Fine Cut, Medium Cut, or Thick Cut. I like all types or marmalades, but typically prefer medium cut. Now, I have found some pretty good marmalades from the US and Canada. My personal favorites are Trader Joe's Seville Orange Marmalade (which you can buy here at Amazon or at about 1/4 the price directly from TJ), followed by - believe it or not - Safeway Select Seville Orange Marmalade which AFAIK is the best bang for the buck you can find. They are both real good, and for most folks should probably be all you would ever want. But I'm a marmaholic. I want more.Great Britain is the Land of Orange Marmalade. And there are a few brands imported from England which you might find on your grocer shelf here in the states. The most common ones I see are Dundees (which IMO is not very good), Mackays (maybe even a little worse), and Roses (probably best of this lot). Now I am not saying that these brands are bad, they are just . . . meh. There are so much better options - including the ones from TJ and Safeway that I mentioned above. To go beyond that, you generally have to resort to specialty food markets and the Internet . . . like Amazon! Here you will find some very good British orange marmalades. Duerrs. Frank Cooper. Robertsons (their Golden Shred is especially nice for a thin cut marmalade). All of these represent a step up from the options mentioned above, IMO.Then there is Wilkin & Sons Tiptree Marmalades. IMO, these are the best of this breed of imported marmalades, across the board. Their Crystal Marmalade is an excellent fine cut marmalade. Likewise the Tawny Marmalade for a thick cut marmalade - which I believe is a best seller here at Amazon. But the Tiptree Orange - a medium cut marmalade - is my favorite of the lot. The consistency of the jelly is something I have not found in any other marmalade available in the states. Almost perfect. The size, color, consistency, and volume of orange peel are also almost perfect. And again not matched by any other marmalade that I know of which is available in the states. If I was going to give one jar to someone who had never tried orange marmalade before, this would probably be it.Now mind you, this is NOT my favorite orange marmalade in the world. My favorites are all private label marmalades for Fortnum & Mason, an upscale market in London and the royal grocer for more than 150 years. However, AFAIK no one in America carries their marmalades. You used to have to travel to London (which I have done a few times) but in the past few years they have exported to the US with a very hefty shipping charge (I have ordered directly from them this way). And I am guessing that you have to have a real passion for marmalade and have eaten a lot of it from a lot of different brands over the years before you would find any significant difference between the Fortnum & Mason marmalades and this Tiptree Orange marmalade here from Wilkin & Sons.Bottom line, if you are looking for a top drawer orange marmalade, and assuming that you are not nearly as obsessed with marmalade as I am, then you can end your search right here. This is the real deal.

Very addicting and delicious.
Amazingly delicious with very few ingredients imported from United Kingdom. I don't even like jelly or jam but tried Black Currant while on vacation in Ireland. Now, I'm hooked. Black currants were made illegal to grow in the United States due to carrying a blight that affected pine trees. Pine trees are logged for the building of most homes in America. In 1911, American Loggers were successful in passing laws nationwide to make the growing of black currants illegal. Since that time, blight resistant varieties have been created, but the appreciation for black currants has not returned. This preserve is incredibly wholesome (absent of preservatives and unnecessary ingredients) and quite delicious. Tiptree makes their products in small batches of 150 jars, which allows a tighter control of quality and taste.

I ate it with a spoon out of the jar ...
I ate it with a spoon out of the jar! When I was pregnant I developed a craving for apricots. That was 48 years ago and there was an abundance of the fruit in Germany, farmers could not afford to have them picked and they let the public take what they wanted for free. Here I was 5 months pregnant up in the trees picking apricots all day and making jam all night. Two months later I had to leave Germany to deliver my baby in Georgia, I brought my mother and 250 jars of apricot preserves but I still have that craving.

Might make you sick!
Terrible. I ordered two jars and both arrived opened. Vacuum was broken on both jars, looks like lid was defective/damaged in identical ways. Little indent like it was hit by a tool. Can’t eat open jars of food. It’s a health risk. Can’t return it get a refund from Amazon either. What to do?This seems to have happened to other purchasers too. Read the reviews.

I love the taste
I love the taste! The texture is also exactly what I was expecting. I used to pick quinces from my grandma's tree as a child and keep them on top of my dresser. The room smelled divinely the entire winter. Then when they were ripe, we would turn them into delicious preserve. Opening this jar reminded me of those childhood experiences. I will buy again.

The Search Continues....
All those great reviews and a reasonable price, so I bought a jar and, FYI, finished half before posting any opinion. I am a confessed Marmaholic / Marmgourmand / Marmhead, searching for that perfect mmmmmmm moment, so let me be your "Mikey" and you decide.I prefer a fine to medium shred ( orange peel ratio), so Wilkin and Sons Triptree qualified. The price for a jar is in the low range compared to other brands. Who doesn't like a bargain? For me, things went south from here because of the flavor profile. Flavor 1...overwhelmingly SWEET!Whew, it was like a blast of pure glycerin, sweet, sweet, sweet, but without any real flavor.Flavor 2....the sweet rolled into a complete lingering bitter. This flavor coats the mouth and stays put even after tea or coffee. All Marmgourmands search for that hit of bitter, but this seems beyond even the Seville real deal. To me it became a negative too much!Where, you ask, is the orange?Flavor 3.....I did not find a natural, clean, orange taste in the jelly at all! The sole orange note was in the shred ( rind slivers) which seemed to have been candied. Some might like candied orange peel; I found it gave an extra chewy texture to those bites.Everyone has an idea of what the perfect marmalade must be. This brand is not mine. A good price is only a bargain if you eat the whole jar. The "Mikey" in me feels like I should get at least a few hours taken off of Purgatory for having eaten so much of this marmalade in the spirit of fairness and exploration!Tomorrow I open a reserve jar of Chivers!

There are so many ! .
