UPDATE: 5/14/17: After lots of research, Ecoseb "Classic" gets my money, and so far it's been money well spent!
UPDATE 5/14/17: I am very sorry to say that after performing incredibly well for several months that my dehumidifier no longer extracts water from the air. Considering I had it running (on "auto) 24/7 since I purchase it in October of 2016, I can't say I'm sorely disappointed... but I AM disappointed. Six months worth of use at a little more than a dollar a day. Still cheaper than fighting mold and wood rot but would I buy it again? I just messaged the company today and we'll see how it's handled. I WILL update this review.I researched dehumidifiers in depth, for almost a week. This is the one I settled on and was quite excited to find Amazon had them back in stock!10/15/2016: I've only had this dehumidifier for 24 hours and so far, I love it! I WILL update this review to reflect any changes as my experience with it goes on.TL;DR: MUCH lighter (as much as 30lbs lighter!) and quite a bit smaller than the top recommended compressor type dehumidifiers. Smart design features such as the "3D Louvre" system, ionizer, eco-mode, laundry drying turbo mode, attractive night light, and continuous run with included drain hose make this a feature packed model at a competitive price. The fan noise, even on turbo mode, is comparable to an oscillating room fan or perhaps an AC unit. There IS a smell to the exhaust air, most likely due to the ionizer feature, but I don't find it bothersome or "chemically" as described by some other reviewers; more like a "clean" smell. The air is warmer and in the approx. 280 sq.ft. of space I bought it for, it may replace a small space heater, particularly when used in it's turbo laundry mode. Dumped the tank twice in 8 hours. That's more than half a dozen of those unpowered hang up desiccant bags did in two weeks. Works like a champ!I bought this unit specifically to use inside our older 40' bus RV conversion. I live on the coast, in the Pacific North West, and recent storms have made me take notice of just how well (or poorly) weather proofed it is. Spring showers? No problem. An inch of rain in 24 hours blowing sideways at 50 mph? Leaks! The size and weight of this unit means I can easily place it pretty much anywhere, even on top of the kitchen counter, with out harming the surface. In fact I have moved it once in the last 24 hours, splitting the time pretty evenly between the front and rear of the bus. I plan to route a longer drain tube to allow it to drain onto the ground and then it will spend most of it's time in the front half of the bus, where most of the moisture problems are.So far, in the first 8 hours, I had to dump the tank TWICE. The 4.2 pint tank wasn't completely full either time so I'm going to guesstimate it drew six pints out of the air in my bus in the first 8 hours. The humidity monitor I installed at the same time said it was 89% RH and 64 degrees F, when I first started. Eight hours later it was showing 71% RH and 63 degrees F (yes, the exhaust air is warm, but it is not a space heater). I had been using those hang up desiccant bags (popular with RVers), three at a time, and they couldn't draw even a fraction of this much water, even given a week. Assuming this unit continues to work as expected, it should pay for itself from the savings in not buying any more of those bags in it's first year of operation, and it is FAR more effective too.The only thing I could possibly tick as a negative is that the included drain hose *that I received* seems to be some sort of metric size. I went looking for a much longer hose, taking a small sample of the OEM one with me, and we discovered that it is not a true 7/16" inner diameter but rather a bit larger, making a tight fit difficult. I recommend using the included hose to attach to the unit and then, if you need more hose, purchase a splice and use a small hose clamp to make the extension possible. A longer, direct replacement, may be difficult to source, especially in North America.DD122EA "Classic" vs "Simple"? With a price difference of approx. US$50, this is a choice I mulled over myself for quite some time. If Amazon had not restocked the Classic just before I made my purchase, I would probably be reviewing the "Simple" version instead. What does the extra $50 get you? Ionizer and the motorized "3D Louvre" system, both very attractive features, especially after having used them first hand. I also prefer the push button controls of the "Classic" model with their independent indicator lights but perhaps the simpler rotary control of the "Simple" one might be easier and more intuitive? All in all I am quite pleased I held out for the Classic version and if everything keeps working as it should, I will have felt that $50 price difference is money well spent.

Unreliable Product & Unresponsive Customer Service
I bought the EcoSeb DD122EA-Classic to dehumidify a space of about 250 SF, and I was duped into thinking that a 2-year warranty meant a quality product. The dehumidifier worked fine for about 2 months, until it stopped extracting water from the air. The unit's fan circulated air but the water bucket didn't fill. The EcoSeb trouble-shooting guide offered no help, and the EcoSeb warranty process was unresponsive. I eventually returned the defective product through Amazon (which cost me $25 in local packaging fees and a $49 restocking fee). In summary, I found the EcoSeb DD122EA-Classic to be unreliable and their customer service person to be unresponsive.

Works great in cold temperatures!
The clear reason to get a desacant dehumidifier is the lowing operating temps. I don't heat my garage and I've been using this dehumidifier during this past winter. It has been fantastic. I ran it at 30 degrees and it still worked pulled moisture out of the air (just a little slower). I have mine set up to drain into a 5-gallon bucket via the included hose, you don't want the standing water to freeze in the unit.Humidity ratings were as high as 82% and averaged above 70%. Everything just felt gross and the melted snow just created larger and larger puddles on the floor. There was no where for more humidity to go. I ran this dehumidifier around the clock on high for two days. My 25 ft by 25 ft garage returned to 50% humidity and the 5-gallon bucket was almost full. I really like the timer option as well. The humidity spiked after snow melted off my truck. Ran it for four hours and it was back to normal and dry.Noise on high is not bad but there is a little room for improvement.

Pretty darn good overall, but why not just make it great?
Dehumidifier works really well in removing the water. It is relatively quiet and works as I expected. The only problems I see with the machine is the moving vent at the top that spreads the return air gets jammed up against the dehumidifier case and stalls. The symbols on the operating buttons are not exactly intuitive. The instructions don’t help all that much. All in all I like the machine, but the ill fitting moving vent and better graphics to explain operation at a glance would make it great.

What a fantastic unit, does what it says on the tin
What a fantastic unit, does what it says on the tin! Can’t believe how fast it extracts the moisture for such a miniature looking model. Very light unit, so I am able to move it around very easily. This unit has an easy to use control panel, with many settings, my particular favorite is the shut off after 2,4,8 hours time for when drying my laundry indoors. Now the humidity levels in my apartment are under control, I feel I am sleeping much more comfortably, the extra heat the unit expels is an added bonus. I tend to now leave it in economy mode and let it do its things, so I don't need to worry when to switch it on or off as I am using the continuous drainage option. The manual is very well laid out and explains how to get the most out of your unit with helpful tips. The unit is exceptionally well designed with the end consumer in mind with great features such as the easy to remove water tank with a handle and lid. So no messy spills when emptying the tank.Last but not least it as a wonderful 3-D Louvre that helps to pin distribution - great for drying laundry or problem areas. My best buy of the year, a gift to myself that keeps giving!

Excellent buy. After lengthy research got this unit
Excellent buy. After lengthy research got this unit. Works well so far. Timer is a plus.Update. After two years using this dehumidifier twice a month for a total of four hours per month , unit is not extracting any moisture and simply blowing cold air. Contacted customer service with no response. $250.00 down the drain.
