When I got this briefcase I didn't realize it would be so big. It's really wide and it doesn't collapse like a soft-sided briefcase. It looks like a doctor's bag - many people have asked if that's what it was. It was so big and bulky that I considered returning it.I did not return it because I started using it - I started putting my things in this briefcase - because it was so big it held a lot - a large portfolio, files, a small book, laptop, I even put in a frozen dinner for lunch and I don't need to carry my small cooler anymore. So the size turns out to be a benefit - I only carry one bag now.Also it's just so well made and it's really nice looking. It just feels very good - the handles are really well-made and the leather case is very nice. The internal of the case is also very well made - the center laptop section is padded.So after using it a while it has grown on me. I want to keep it now because it's so nice, and the size is actually a benefit if you don't mind looking like you're carrying around a doctor bag.

I purchased this because I needed to carry Notary certificates, stamps, supplies, and other daily items. I was using a much smaller bag that measured about 3.5 at the base which meant I couldn't carry everything I needed. This bag is large and as it's new it is a little stiff. The finish is smooth and very nice. It slides between my passenger seat and dash and is well balanced so carrying a ton of stuff is not a problem at all. The handles are stiff at first but a little use will have they forming a nice comfortable shape to your hand. If you have a question about the strap (many people have complained about that in the past) I wouldn't worry. It appears they updated the clasp used in the shoulder strap to be the 'C' type rather than the lobster claw style. I have yet to have it fail- but since it is so thick I is a little awkward to carry on your shoulder. I just carry it in my hand.The lock is good and the bag's opening has tension screws that enable you to adjust whether you want it to stay open or close itself while in use. I find I like it firm which holds the bag open in use. Very handy if you use it open, beside you, while seated.If I could suggest anything I would ask that this exact bag be offered in a sort of bellows design that more readily collapses when not completely full.

This bag was a great purchase. It looks very professional. It compares in quality to Briefs of double the cost. I carry my Macbook Pro and a few legal pads and a few folders in it to sales presentations. I get great compliments on the Brief. The lock works great but I seldom use it. There is a built in business card holder and two pen holders. The center of the bag interior has a nice quality padding to keep your laptop in it. I also have enough room to keep my iPad in there as well. I would certainly recommend this purchase.

The briefcase is considerably larger than what the advertising photos suggest. The leather material is not of the best quality, likely related to less thickness and lower quality processing. The stitching is very poor and will probably contribute to substandard intermediate and long term reliability and durability. Overall, a highly overpriced briefcase with a poor quality craftsmanship.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we carry lots of books. After we had our baby we needed something that carried both of our books. This bag is perfect for this purpose and has room to spare. The shoulder strap doesn't stay on real well. This bag is different than most on the market and very pleased with it do far.

I would like to see the Country of Origin included in all product descriptions. Obviously, in this case [no pun intended] the company's name, McKleinUSA, has no relevance to the country of origin. With Thailand displayed rather predominantly on the box, my mistake was immediately noticeable. But it was too late by then to go through a return and replace process as these were gifts which were needed within two weeks of their arrival.It is much too soon to comment on the significant factor of longevity. I can say that the briefcase presents well right out of the box. The leather feels good, smells good and looks nice. It has a substantial feel to it. The recipients seemed pleased with it.But, I had wanted a product made in America. Research prior to purchase had suggested that hides from some regions of the world might reflect the poorer diet and care that the cattle received in other countries. I wanted to give these graduates a quality gift that would last them for years to come in addition to enhancing a professional appearance.And for all I know at this point in time, maybe this briefcase will do that. I'm just a little less confident than I would be if this were really a made in America product.All I can say for now is that it looks good. Of all the zillions of briefcases I looked at online, I kept coming back to this one. For a brief case that doubles as a laptop bag, it offers a less bulky appearance and yet is quite roomy inside, no easy trick. The hardware looks like it's up to the job of carrying the kind of weight that could accumulate with a laptop, files, etc.I did note the comments regarding the shoulder strap, but I am pretty sure these guys aren't going to use the shoulder strap. If they do and it's problematic, I'm sure our shoe repairman can replace the clips. If that's the worst problem that arises, it's easily fixed and these were still a good value.

Love this book bag. Plenty of room and storage inside but not to large to be obtrusive. Very well constructed and a great price for such craftsmanship.

Durable y buena calidad

Very happy with this bag. Better than I was expecting. My husband has been looking for a case for over a year now and couldn't find what he felt would cover all his ideas on the perfect bag for him.His old case finally was just too far gone and needed to get something even if it might be a compromise. We found this online and it really seemed to have everything he wanted but as we had never bought this type of thing online before we were afraid of what kind of quality it would end up being.It has been more than he hoped for by far.He doesn't use the shoulder strap at all and was a bit worried about the side attachments getting in the way but no problem at all.There were comments about the weight and he says it isn't any heavier than any bag of this style and quality.The roomy pockets hold all he needs to carry and more. He finds the inside zipper pocket very convenient to store important documents.He has been using it steady for nearly a month and no problems.In short he loves it!

McKlein never miss- always perfect! We've ordered their other leather range before (Daley, etc)...always perfect...this particular order was a bit strange...as our order came with some mould and dust (as it probably was stowed away for a while in the Amazon warehouse) but it was brand new nevertheless (Amazon and McKlein never ever shortchanged me before) and with everything in perfect order...all it took was just a touch of leather polish and cleaning/conditioner and this was absolutely sensational again in just over five minutes! I then began to feel like Jerry Maguire in the airport scene (minus Tom Cruise's good looks) with this particular bag (which has a fantastic leather strap with the McKlein 80s corporate logo etched on to allow you to hang it on your shoulder)....and it has multiple components allowing it that versatility and spaciousness that some other briefcases just don't provide for. On top of that, this is just a seriously classy vintage 80s/90s business bag. Love it! Thanks Amazon for selling!
