My Savior! Boiler Only with No C-Wire and Amazon Smart Thermostat
For many years, I wanted to get a smart/wifi thermostat, but my 1925 Craftsman house did not have a c-wire from the boiler. It had been on my honey-do list to get an electrician/handyperson to come in and run the wiring for me, but just had not managed to coordinate that. There is a long story about needing to do an emergency shut-off of my boiler while I was half way across the country for 10 more days in November. Needless to say, as soon as I got home and was able to resolve the immediate issue, I wanted a fast solution in the event of a future situation while I am out of town.Because I already have Amazon Echo units all around my house, it made sense to purchase the Amazon Smart Thermostat instead of another brand. After a lot of research and asking others, I ended up initially buying the companion c-wire adaptor that is recommended by Amazon. What was not well disclosed is the adaptor requires you have more than the two wires I have. Basically it doesn't work if you have only heat which is my situation. I had seen this type of plug-in adaptor but could not find anything definitive that it would work with the Amazon Smart Thermostat. Decided to give it a try and crossed my fingers.Installation of the overall thermostat was a little rocky, but in the end, I got everything to work. Other reviewers commented that they needed to switch which lead they put into which slot, basically that there was some sort of polarity. I probably tried a dozen attempts with different configurations before I finally got it to work. Not sure if the adaptor was at any point part of the issue or just the overall thermostat, but happy to report it has now been about three weeks and everything is great. As for the adaptor itself, it is ridiculously long. I might at some point trim it down to only the length I actually need, which is probably two feet versus the 25+ feet. For now, the bulk is hidden behind a bookcase so not visible. I've seen others comment that the plug had a loud buzz. Mine makes absolutely no noise at all. Perfectly quiet. It is also cool to the touch, so no concerns about heat. The price is really good. There were a few other choices that also included little clips to keep the cord orderly along the wall/baseboard, but I figured I could get those cheap at a hardware store if I really needed them. So, if you are like me and only have a boiler with no c-wire and want to install the Amazon Smart Thermostat (but also suggests it works with other smart thermostats or doorbells), don't hesitate to get this product, even if it is just temporary until you decide to get a c-wire added.

Perfect for getting Nest thermostat running without a C wire in the wall.
Exactly what I needed. I got a Nest thermostat from my power company for a pretty cheap price but I couldn't use it because I didn't have a C wire. Before using it I got a multimeter out just to confirm it was low voltage and it is indeed right around 23/24 volts. I decided to give this a try and after some trial and error, I was able to get the thermostat up and running. I have this transformer connected to the C and R (two wires twisted together) on my Nest backplate and it appears to be working perfectly. No errors on the Nest and I am lucky enough to have an outlet directly below my thermostat so I didn't have to run the cord very far. It isn't ideal having this transformer cable running down to the outlet but the benefits of having the Nest running far outweigh the aesthetic compromise IMHO.

100% power 100% of the time for Ring Doorbell
I purchased two of these units to power two battery powered Ring doorbell units. I had tired of recharging the batteries and wanted a more permanent source. These units arrived quickly and were easy to install using a wall outlet. I would highly recommend this product and purchase it again.

Convenient
These things are really convenient saves you from having to constantly change batteries inside your thermostat

Works great for powering a smart thermostat!
Worked great for my Google 4th Gen Thermostat! Wiring is ancient so my heating was a 2 wire setup. The Google supplied wiring harness that should solve the problem was tripping out my furnace because it was leeching power and the furnace went nuts. Hooked this up instead. Looks ghetto having a wire hanging down the wall, but it works 🤷‍♂️

Works fine
Worked just fine. For people using this on a battery powered ring device you still need to install the battery.

Ring doorbell worked on the first try.
Super easy install using an outlet as opposed to direct 110v wiring. No need for a junction box. My ring doorbell worked on the first try. Existing doorbell was removed and replaced with an old at&t intercom system that stopped working for years. No back to something more modern.
