After a month still seems reliable
Been using it for a while now, anytime I put it through a test seems to detect propane effectively. Using it for a water heater that I have and wanted something close to the propane valves to make sure where the water heater is located I would know if there was a gas leak immediatelyWould really like to see a Wi-Fi compatible model as there doesn't seem to be many on the market. My only concern is if I am far enough away from its location I will never hear it going off. Would be great to have one that could alert your phone. But the alarm on this one is definitely noticeable if you are in the vicinity

Good
Ordered this because I thought I smelled natural gas when I purchased my new home. Setup was easy, and it never went off. At first I thought than meant it wasn't working, so I had a friend come in with a different gas detector - nothing. Eventually the smell faded, so I'm guessing it was just from sitting empty for a while. I haven't had the chance to prove this actually works with a real leak (thankfully!) but I van confirm it didn't have any false positives or false negatives for me.

User friendly
We bought this following a scare at our house with a gas leak. It literally is plug in, warm up, ready to go. We tested the unit and it works very well.

Good so far
So far these gas detectors have been good. I have one in the kitchen behind my propane cook stove, and one in the basement near my propane furnace. The "warming up" announcement is not loud, I have two toddlers that are far louder. We lost electricity and when it came back on the warming up announcement did not even wake up the baby sleeping in the dining area next to the kitchen, and he is a very light sleeper.I am happy with my purchase.

Good safety item for anyone with a gas stove.
This the second one I’ve bought. I bought one for my kitchen sometime ago, and when my girl friend had a new gas stove installed in her kitchen, I wanted her to have one for her safety. I tested it for her, and I’m confident that it will be a benefit to her.

Sensitive gas detector
The main reason that I chose this gas detector is to alert my family in case someone bumps a range knob, causing gas to flow without activating the igniter. The other reason is to alert my family in case of a gas leak in the range or in a gas pipe. The unit gets powered on by simply plugging it in. There is no setup required. For the first three minutes, the unit loudly announces about every 15 seconds that is it "warning up." During the warm-up phase, self-test can be run by tapping the front panel. After the three minute warm up, the unit sits quietly until it detects gas. An LED light remains lit to show that the unit is powered on.I tested the unit by turning on a gas range burner while bypassing the igniter. The unit alarmed about ten seconds after I could smell the gas myself. (I am very good at smelling gas.) This is probably good because you would not want the unit alarming from the tiny amount of gas that is released during the brief time that a burner is turned on before the gas has ignited. There are three levels of alarms spoken in English (with increasing urgency) and they are very loud. The alarm can easily be heard in adjacent and nearby rooms. There is one minor physical deficiency that does not impact operation. As shown in the photo, the plug area protrudes outward about 1/4" so the unit does not fit flush against an electric receptacle and tends to hang slightly, even when the receptacle is new and the internal contacts are tight. The unit might fall out of a very loose, old receptacle. However, if you have loose receptacles, you should replace them because they are a fire hazard.Another very minor issue is that if the unit loses power, even for just one second, it will go through the entire warm-up initialization again, repeating loudly "warming up " for three minutes. If your home loses power frequently, this could be annoying, but if your home loses power frequently, you should get the power problem fixed.Overall, this is a fine product that works as advertised. While it will make any home (or business) that uses natural gas or propane safer, it would particularly benefit people who might be prone to bumping a gas value or who cannot readily smell the odor of natural gas or propane.
